The Opportunity
Lesley University is seeking a collaborative and dynamic individual to serve as the Head Softball Coach and Game Day Manager (Head Coach/Manager). This role will assist the Director of Athletics with various administrative aspects associated with the Lesley Athletic Department while heading the operation for the Softball program.
The Head Coach/Manager will lead the planning, management, and coordination of all aspects of the Softball program, including the oversite and hiring of Assistant Coaches. Responsibilities include organizing practices, supporting all relevant recruitment and fundraising activities, and overseeing the academic success of student-athletes. They will maintain proper and appropriate discipline among students during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while off campus. Additionally, the Head Coach/Manager will represent the Athletic Department as the On-Site Administrator for Athletic games. They will spearhead game field set-up, breakdown, live streams, social media posts, and statistics. This role is responsible for hiring and managing work-study students during the academic year.
The Head Coach/Administrator must comply with all policies established by federal and state laws, Lesley University, North Atlantic Conference (NAC) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA Division III) policies and procedures. Lesley University is an NCAA Division III institution and a member of the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) with 14 varsity programs and a competitive Esports Program, serving over 150 student-athletes.
Qualities and Capabilities
A successful candidate will have:
Bachelor’s Degree in related field (required), Master’s Degree (preferred)
The successful candidate must demonstrate strong leadership traits and be prepared to support other administrative initiatives assigned by the Athletic Director.
1-3+ years of combined experience in Athletic Administration & Coaching (preferred)
Knowledge and solid understanding of NCAA Division III rules and regulations
Experience with event management and site supervision
Requires night and weekend hours and potential overnight travel
Driver’s License required
