ROLE SUMMARY
As the Head of Engineering, you will lead and oversee all aspects of engineering, including product management, product marketing, product development, and product engineering. You will play a strategic role in driving the development and commercialization of our BESS, Microgrids, and EMS products, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of our customers and the market. This includes defining and executing robust product development processes and practices, as well as developing the product roadmap to ensure timely delivery of products to customers. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Data Science, Design, Marketing, and Sales, to ensure seamless execution of the product roadmap and drive revenue growth. Your responsibility will be to bring differentiated products to the market that satisfy demand, while also creating, assessing, updating, and communicating a clear product vision and strategy.
You will identify and mitigate potential risks and challenges associated with product development and launch while staying informed about industry regulations and standards to ensure compliance.
Additionally, this role entails mentoring and building fast-paced engineering teams in the USA and Canada and being willing to travel nationwide as required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES
Product Management:
- Develop and execute product strategies and roadmaps for BESS and EMS products, aligning them with company objectives and market trends.
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify customer needs, competitive landscape, and growth opportunities.
- Define product requirements, features, and specifications based on market insights and customer feedback.
Product Marketing:

- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop compelling product messaging, positioning, and go-to-market strategies.
- Create marketing collateral, sales tools, and promotional materials to support product launches and sales efforts.
- Conduct market segmentation and targeting to identify key customer segments and market opportunities.
- Product Development:
- Lead the product development process from concept to launch, working closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, design, and manufacturing.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement in product design, functionality, and performance.
- Ensure products are developed in compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Product Engineering:

- Manage a team of product engineers responsible for designing, testing, and optimizing BESS and EMS products.
- Oversee product design and development activities, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
- Implement best practices for product engineering, including design for manufacturability, reliability, and scalability.
Leadership and Strategy

- Develop and communicate a clear vision and strategy software & control products.
- Provide leadership and guidance to a team of engineers and specialists, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Project Management:

- Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
- Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
Technology Assessment and Implementation:

- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies related to controls and automation.
- Evaluate, recommend, and implement cutting-edge technologies to enhance the organization's control systems and automation capabilities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:

- Collaborate with other departments, including engineering, construction, commissioning, and quality assurance to ensure a seamless integration of control and automation solutions.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and requirements, translating them into effective technical solutions.
Risk Management and Compliance:

- Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with controls and automation projects.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and internal policies.
Performance Monitoring and Optimization:

- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for controls and automation systems.
- Implement monitoring tools and processes to track system performance, analyze data, and optimize processes for efficiency and effectiveness.
Budget and Resource Management:
- Develop and manage budgets for controls and automation projects.
- Optimize resource allocation to ensure the efficient execution of projects while maximizing ROI.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in product management, product marketing, product development, or product engineering roles, preferably in the energy storage or renewable energy industry.
- Expertise in Operational Technology and Information Technology.
- Experience in developing mission-critical applications and embedded systems.
- Familiarity with cyber standards like NERC CIP.
- Developing, implementing, and evaluating IT projects aligned with organizational objectives.
- Proven track record of successfully launching and commercializing products, with a focus on driving revenue growth and market share.
- Strong technical background in electrical engineering, power systems, or related fields.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire cross-functional teams.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute product strategies that align with business objectives.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Results-oriented mindset with a focus on achieving measurable outcomes and driving business success.
- Expertise in the cloud, IIoT, AI/ML, Industrial Automation & Control applications.
- Experience in developing power plant controls, BESS-EMS, and Microgrids is an added advantage.
- Experience with utilities, BESS, and renewable energy projects.
- Experience with CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment) pipelines for automated testing and deployment.
- Proficiency in containerization technologies like Docker for packaging and deploying applications.
- Solid understanding of software development principles, Agile development methodologies, and best practices
- Proven track record of leading technical teams and delivering high-quality software solutions
- Understanding of multi-tenancy architecture patterns and considerations .
