The Walker Art Center is seeking a skilled and energetic Head of Earned Revenue. This strategic and operational position is responsible for maximizing existing revenue streams such as retail, event rentals, food and beverage concessions, as well as identifying, developing, and enacting new sources for generating revenue aligned with the Walker’s mission. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Head of Earned Revenue is a vital member of the senior management team, helping to set direction and strategies for all Walker’s revenue generating efforts.
WHAT YOU GET TO DO
- Develop and execute a mission aligned, earned revenue strategy that builds on existing streams
- Draft and monitor budgets, financial models and business plans for all businesses and provide leadership and strategies for sustained earned income generation across the organization
- Provide leadership and management oversight to Walker revenue generating departments: Walker Shops, Event Rentals, Restaurant, Mini-golf and others to be determined
- Work closely with teams across the institution to set revenue targets and pricing and explore opportunities for programs and products.
- Collaborate closely with the marketing and visitor experience teams to align marketing and sales functions to revenue strategy and maintain excellent visitor experience across all Walker venues including the digital space
- Proactively explore and lead implementation of new initiatives to increase earned revenue
- Develop and document policies and procedures for department staff and manage to them
- Represent the Walker and manage its relationships and contracts with existing and potential partners in business activities such as food service concessions and the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board; Cultivate relationships with new potential partners
WHAT WE NEED IN YOU
- Extensive and progressive experience in business management and sales; minimum 6 years required
- Market analysis and forecasting experience with a demonstrated ability to set and achieve revenue targets
- Strong project management skills; adept at organizing work and achieving excellent results on schedule
- Able to develop high functioning teams among groups of diverse, talented individuals, regardless of reporting relationships
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to work with and support a wide range of constituents, e.g., programming and operations staff, board, visitors, vendors, donors, and volunteers.
- Customer service orientation
- Ability to identify, interpret and apply appropriate applicable laws and regulations
- Experience with contract negotiation
- Strong presentation and communication skills, both written and oral
- Microsoft Office proficiency
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Able to perform extensive standing, walking, and lifting.
- Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 25 pounds.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS This position is considered full-time (35 hours per week),exempt. As an exempt position, it is not eligible for overtime pay. The minimum compensation for this role is $120,000 annually. The Walker offers a wide range of benefits for both part-time and full-time employees.
