ROLE SUMMARY:
The Head Grower/Grow Manager is the departmental manager with regard to the cultivation of cannabis for the business. This individual will create and implement best practices and standard operations that will maximize production, quality, safety, and compliance whilst minimizing inputs and costs. This individual will provide daily leadership and direction on how to meet company standards and achieve production goals and will regularly communicate progress to the Facility Manager and the owners. This individual will manage a large-scale grow facility with numerous lights and will supervise all cloning, transplanting, feeding, integrated pest management, pre-harvest waste tracking and disposal, and plant inventory management activities for the facility.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Stay current and adhere to all relevant federal, LARA, and municipal regulations.
- Encourage and maintain an environment of high integrity to optimize product quality, efficiency
and compliance.
- Manage all grow duties and employees.
- Create/implement/maintain standard growing best practices and compliant/effective standard operating procedures.
- Responsible for production; including but not limited to inventory management, plant scheduling, plant propagation, transplanting, plant establishment, grow mediums, watering, feeding, pest control, harvest, quality control, waste management, sanitation, and facility maintenance.
- Must maintain a culture of professionalism at all times.
- Monitor and adjust grow facility conditions to enhance optimization.
- Maintain plant health while striving to minimize plant stress and inputs and maximize outputs.
- Project and communicate production levels over time and assist Facility Manager in identifying strategies to maximize available resources.
- Identify and develop safe and compliant pest control strategies to combat mold, powdery mildew, spider mites, root aphids, fungus, gnats, etc.
- Catalogue and analyze all strains from seed to harvest to identify/mitigate issues and enhance productivity and product quality.
- Manage and maintain grow inventory management documentation, specifically including that related to inputs and applications to plants.
- Assist the Facility HR Administrator with the maintenance of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA,) Michigan Occupational Health and Safety Administration (MIOSHA,) Compliance Strategies and required documentation.
- Review, maintain, and update training and Standard Operating Procedures as needed.
- Communicate staffing needs to the Facility Manager and HR Administrator as needed.
- Assist the Facility Manager in managing supply and inventory levels.
- Must adhere to the Company's stated Equality and Diversity and Drug-Free Workplace policies.

- All other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
- Extensive knowledge of the cannabis industry and the associated federal, state, and local municipal laws and regulations
- Extensive knowledge of plant genetics, propagation, and common diseases
- Strong counting, tracking, and inventory management skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work with a diverse team
- Qualified applicants have an aptitude for comprehending compliance and the ability to adhere to a regulatory framework by creating, monitoring, and updating internal procedures as needed
ADDITIONAL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Minimum of 2 years of Commercial Cannabis Cultivation experience as a Head Grower/Grow
- Must be able to pass a background check with no pending charges or convictions within the past 10 years for a controlled substance-related felony.
- Must have reliable transportation.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25lbs to a minimum height of 5 feet and able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet, with or without mechanical assistance
- Must be able to work seated/standing as appropriate at workstations for extended periods of time, maintain body equilibrium while climbing ladders, stairways, stopping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching, and use hands/fingers to hold, grasp, turn, pick, pinch frequently/constantly to complete tasks
- Must be able to handle organic matter daily, able to wear PPE as appropriate (eye, face, hand, arm, head, foot, body, fall protection), and able to be exposed to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions while wearing PPE (95 degrees or greater)
- Must have visual acuity with/without job aids to perform activities such as; reading, viewing a computer terminal, visual inspection involving small parts/details. Clarity of vision at 20 ft or more in day and night/dark conditions
- Must be able to speak and communicate verbally at conversation levels with co-workers, vendors, etc. (Moderate noise)
WORK SCHEDULE:
40+ hours weekly with flexible hours depending on department needs. Must be available to work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays.
