Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and results-driven Head Cook to lead our kitchen team at our café. The ideal candidate will be proficient in culinary techniques, possess excellent leadership skills, and have a strong commitment to delivering exceptional food and service. This role is essential for maintaining and enhancing our café's reputation, ensuring timely and well-prepared meals, and creating a loyal customer base.
Detailed Job Duties & Responsibilities
Pre- Ops Responsibilities
- Ongoing Product Trial and Test Run (rent a kitchen or utilize our kitchen once ready)
- Assist in Kitchen equipment commissioning and maintenance
- Finalizing key vendor and ingredients selection
- Inventory & Stocks Management
- POS/System Training and Familiarization
- Final Menu and Product Presentation before GO
- Kitchen equipment vendor coordination if needed
Leadership and Management:
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of line cooks and kitchen staff.
- Train and mentor new kitchen staff on cooking techniques and kitchen protocols.
- Schedule shifts and manage kitchen workflow to ensure efficient operation.
Food Preparation and Quality Control:
- Oversee the preparation and assembly of ingredients for menu items before each shift.
- Prepare and cook high-quality meals according to café recipes and standards.
- Ensure food portions, presentation, and taste meet company standards.
- Monitor food preparation to ensure consistency and adherence to quality control standards.
Inventory and Supply Management:
- Manage inventory levels, monitor supplies, and reorder stock as needed.
- Ensure proper storage of food and ingredients according to health and safety standards.
- Maintain kitchen records, including delivery logs, inventory, and wastage reports.
Health and Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to health and safety standards, including correct temperatures and storage practices.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, including equipment, utensils, and work areas.
- Follow and enforce health and safety protocols, including proper waste disposal and sanitization practices.
Customer Service and Problem Resolution:
- Resolve problems with customer orders and address any issues with wait staff or food-related concerns.
- Ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of guest orders while adhering to quality control guidelines.
Additional Duties:
- Attend to and monitor supplier equipment updates, cleaning, calibration, and maintenance schedules.
- Assist other cooks and kitchen staff to ensure timely completion of food orders.
- Fill in when required
- Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and advancements in Food and Beverage services.
- Perform other related duties
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, and consistently embrace and exemplify the company’s core values in all aspects of work.

Education
- Proficient experience as a cook or chef, with demonstrated leadership in a kitchen environment.
- ServSafe food handling certification
- Strong knowledge of various cooking techniques and ingredients.
- Experience roles such a Lead Cook and Head Cook within the Food and Beverage Hospitality industry, particularly in high-traffic and high-demand environments like NYC.

Pay: From $22.00 per hour
