The Hatchery Manager is responsible to provide leadership and direction for the hatchery department, including activities such as sorting, setting, hatching, shipping of baby ducks, and utility maintenance of facilities and equipment. Responsibilities:
· Offers leadership, guidance, and training to all hatchery hourly employees by fostering effective communication, conducting regular evaluations, and setting both short-term and long-term goals.
· Ensures reporting requirements and KPIs are being met.
· Develops and implements standard operating procedures for hatchery operations to ensure attainment of goals and profitable operation, including sorting, setting, hatching and shipping of baby ducks.
· Oversee the daily and preventative maintenance of the hatchery operations, including but not limited to incubators, hatchers, and processing equipment.
· Monitors thermometers, gauges, and chart recorders to ensure compliance and performance with equipment standards.
· Developing and communicating staff work schedules to adhere to hatchery requirements.
· Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal codes and regulations.
· Comply with all company policies and procedures.
Requirements:
BS/BA degree in related field required.
· Minimum 5 years of equivalent leadership experience in a manufacturing/production facility required; animal or poultry facility preferred.
· Bi-lingual Spanish/English strongly preferred.
· Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
· Ability to independently make decisions with minimum supervision.
· Ability to multitask and effectively prioritize workload.
· Knowledge of animal welfare and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
· Advanced personal computer skills: Working knowledge of Excel and Outlook.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
· Ability to comply with all company policies and procedures.
