About the Job
Job Description
Developing HIL test environments:
Creating detailed virtual models of vehicle systems using simulation software, including accurate representations of hardware components and their interactions.
Designing test cases:
Defining scenarios and parameters for testing various vehicle functionalities under different operating conditions (e.g., extreme weather, off-road terrains, emergency braking).
Implementing test scripts:
Programming test sequences to control the HIL environment and monitor system responses.
Conducting HIL testing:
Executing test cases, analyzing data from simulations, and identifying potential issues with vehicle systems.
Troubleshooting and calibration:
Identifying and resolving discrepancies between simulated and real-world behavior, making necessary adjustments to models or hardware configurations.
Collaborating with engineering teams:
Working with design engineers, software developers, and hardware specialists to ensure seamless integration between different vehicle systems.
Strong engineering background:
Thorough understanding of vehicle mechanics, electrical systems, hydraulics, and control systems.
Simulation software proficiency:
Expertise in industry-standard HIL simulation tools like MATLAB/Simulink, dSPACE, or similar.
Programming skills:
Ability to write test scripts and control simulation environments using programming languages like C/C++.
Data analysis skills:
Interpreting complex simulation data to identify trends, diagnose issues, and make informed decisions.
Problem-solving abilities:
Troubleshooting complex system interactions and identifying root causes of issues within simulations.
Work within advanced engineering groups regarding development of software validation tools for advanced vehicle control systems. Work encompasses building and implementing testing tools for hybrid electric vehicles and components (motors, drives, engines, generators, energy storage cells etc.), autonomous vehicle systems, advanced suspensions, material handling and other auxiliary equipment for on-road and off-road applications.
ESSENTIAL DUTY AND RESPSONSIBILITY
1. Responsible for developing complex systems simulations in a virtual simulation environment using modeling tools (such as dSpace ASM, ADAMS, Amesim, Vedyna and Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow etc.) for hardware-in-the-loop simulators.
2. Validate plant models with physical testing data for accuracy
3. Design and develop tools using Matlab/Python scripts to automate integration of closed-loop simulations
4. Work with software requirements to establish validation metrics for plant models
5. Conduct independent research and development on new technologies and establish requirements (resources, equipment, estimates, test plans, and milestones) according to the needs of a project.
6. Work with internal and external (vendors, industry consortiums, or universities etc.) project teams on advanced testing development efforts under the guidance of a supervisor with minimum supervision.
7. Provide insight to engineering software teams and mentoring to low level engineers as needed based on expertise.
Expectation
Have the essential simulation and testing education or in-depth work-related experiences
Strong time management, communication and critical thinking skills
Strong presentation skills and able to confidently interface internal or external customers.
Follow the directions of the supervisor very efficiently and provide feedback on the technical hurdles and progresses with clarity and assess the priorities based on business needs
