Group Lead Job Summary:
The Production Group Lead is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of an automotive assembly line. This role involves ensuring that production schedules are met efficiently, safely, and within budget while maintaining high-quality standards. The Production Group Lead will guided and coordinate the activities of production staff, manage resources, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize plant performance.
Group Lead Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate daily production activities to meet production targets and deadlines.
- Ensure that production processes are carried out according to established procedures and standards.
- Monitor workflow and adjust schedules as necessary to meet changing production demands.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of production workers, ensuring effective communication and a positive work environment.
- Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team members’ skills and performance.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and address any performance issues promptly.
- Ensure that all products meet the company’s quality standards and customer specifications.
- Implement and monitor quality control processes to identify and address defects or non-conformance.
- Collaborate with the quality assurance team to investigate and resolve quality issues.
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, ensuring that all safety protocols and regulations are strictly followed.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, environmental regulations, and company policies.
- Manage the allocation of resources, including labor, materials, and equipment, to maximize efficiency and minimize waste.
- Monitor and control inventory levels to ensure the availability of materials while minimizing excess stock.
- Coordinate maintenance and repair activities to minimize downtime and ensure equipment reliability.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost-saving initiatives.
- Provide regular updates to the Operations Assistant Manager on production status, challenges, and achievements.
- Prepare and submit reports on production performance, including output, quality, safety, and resource utilization.
- Facilitate communication between production teams and other departments, such as quality, engineering, and logistics.
- Other duties as assigned.
Group Lead Knowledge & Experience:
- High School/GED, associate’s degree or higher preferred or equivalent combination of education and 1-3 years of leadership experience.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or automotive production environment.
- Knowledge of lean methodologies
- Knowledge of equipment and processes used in an assembly line preferred
- Manufacturing experience in the Automotive industry preferred
- Knowledge of production safe work practices
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Abilities:
- Attendance – Must be able to work overtime, as required, in order to meet production needs
- Ability to rotate shifts every two weeks (day/night)
- Must be at facility at a minimum of 30 minutes prior to the start of the shift
