- You’ll directly manage an Accounting Manager, 3 STAT Accountants, 1 Staff Accountant, 1 Business Systems Admin and 1 Claims Services Support Rep
RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Insurance Company Group Controller provides guidance and oversight to the insurance accounting team.
- This team provides financial reporting and analysis to support the Company’s regulatory, operational and reinsurance reporting requirements.
- Lead and develop a high performing team
- Manage the month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing processes
- Production of GAAP and statutory based financial statements, including consolidations and financial based regulatory compliance reporting
- Development and maintenance of the internal control environment, ensuring on-going compliance with key internal control procedures and regulatory compliance
- Reconcile Accounts each month and ensure that any discrepancies are appropriately resolved
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting and billing in accordance with reinsurance contracts
- Oversee the development and maintenance of reporting necessary to support financial reporting from both policy administration and claims management systems
- Provide various financial analysis as needed
- Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support decision-making processes
- Facilitate the annual external audit and tax compliance reporting processes
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Ideal candidate will have experience with both statutory and GAAP financial reporting for property and casualty insurers, in depth knowledge of reinsurance accounting and reporting, and 10+ years managing and developing insurance accounting talent.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Working knowledge of reinsurance contracts and their accounting implications
- Working knowledge of Federal income taxation of property & casualty insurers
- Advanced knowledge of technology used by insurance businesses and/or financial systems
Salary
175,000 - 200,000 /year
