JOB SUMMARY:
The Greenhouse Supervisor at Mariani Enterprises, LLC will oversee the overall successful execution of crop production planning, greenhouse operations, and yard supervision at our Libertyville, IL location. This role is responsible for ensuring the highest quality of plant material, managing watering schedules, overseeing labor, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of greenhouses and staging areas.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Propagate and maintain the highest quality of plant material in the greenhouses and poly houses
- Oversee the scheduling of all work for herbaceous propagation
- Care for stock that is grown, staged, and waiting to go to a job or inventoried items
- Inspect all plant material located inside and delivered to the greenhouse location to ensure it meets Mariani standards
- Provide input for future herbaceous crops, working closely with the herbaceous plant buyer
- Direct and train greenhouse staff to accomplish tasks in accordance with Mariani quality standards
- Oversee pulling and staging of herbaceous orders
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of greenhouses, hoop houses, and herbaceous staging areas
- Purchase all greenhouse supplies including fertilizer, chemical, and equipment
- Receive deliveries and put received products in the appropriate location
- Work with purchasing staff on the layout and organization of poly houses
- Participate in offsite trips to locate appropriate and needed herbaceous plant material
- Oversee and participate in loading and unloading of herbaceous plant materials
- Record all plants propagated, moved, sized, or discarded on the daily log sheet
- Diagnose plant problems on site
- Follow the purchasing process and maintain an accurate database of available herbaceous plant material
- Assist in creating a production calendar
- Identify new vendors for future purchases
- Communicate any status or internal issues to the Materials Manager
- Approve material invoices in a timely manner
- Work independently and within a team on special and ongoing projects
- Consistently evaluate work to meet internal and external client expectations
- Participate in weekly departmental and training meetings
- Complete appropriate paperwork in a timely manner and ensure accuracy of all paperwork
- Follow company policies, procedures, and work standards
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This position is responsible for assigning, reviewing, and checking work of other employees:
- Greenhouse Crew Members
- Herbaceous Coordinator
- Greenhouse Crew Leader
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Horticulture or a related field preferred
- At least 3-5 years of greenhouse/growing experience required
- Advanced knowledge of growing techniques and plant materials
- Ability to lead and train staff for career development
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to deliver quality results under tight deadlines
- Working knowledge of general computer functions and Microsoft Office programs

WORKING CONDITIONS:
This role requires intermittent physical activity and occasional travel to nurseries and vendor locations. Evening and weekend work may be required to meet client needs and deadlines.
