Do you have a passion for storytelling? Are you a visual leader skilled at brainstorming, pitching, driving, and delivering impactful brand-forward design? Do you have a keen eye for detail, sharp concepting skills, and a desire to collaborate with some of the most talented creatives in the biz? If you answered yes to all these questions, we want to meet you.
The eBay Brand Creative team is looking for a talented art director and creative leader for our Sneakers category. You're not only an innovative visual storyteller who can concept and design compelling, brand-building creative no matter the form—from short films, Instagram stories, and collaborative lock-ups, to landing pages and out-of-the-box ideas— but also someone who's able to concisely explain that compelling concept and guide it along. You have innovative narrative and technical skills, nuanced ideas, boundless creativity, and a collaborative spirit. A background in sneakers is a huge plus, but not critical as long as there's passion and capability for fast, on-the-job learning.
What you'll do:
Concept and develop creative for video, social, onsite, offsite display, and more. Review, strengthen, and approve adjacent creative projects by outside agencies. Work closely and effectively with diverse teams—including copywriters and designers,
videographers, social strategists, marketing managers, and planning partners—to drive
creative work forward within the context of the business.
Present creative to key stakeholders with clarity and professionalism.
Execute work that is engaging, data driven, and aligns with our brand's aesthetic, standards, and needs.
Ensure that visual style is consistent across teams and channels, aligns with brand, and meets accessibility/platform standards.
Serve as a leader within the Sneakers vertical and the point person for creative (alongside the Sneakers Copy Manager).
Occasional travel to Sneakers events and video/photoshoots is expected.
What you offer:
Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Communication Design, New Media, or related field. 5+ years graphic design experience, including motion graphics, responsive design, and additional territories—video, photo, print, and more.
A stellar portfolio that represents a wide range of complex, creatively diverse, high-profile brands and projects.
Strong concepting skills—the ability to build an idea into creative that cuts through. Expert creative knowledge in desktop, mobile, display and social spaces/technicalities/best practices.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite required; After Effects/Cinema The Client/Blender is a plus. Understanding of Figma and how to use it to create and collaborate.
Strong typography and composition skills are a must; hand-drawn elements are a plus. A keen eye for detail, bringing beauty and consistency together.
A collaborative can-do attitude, openness to sharing ideas in an open forum, and ability to receive feedback and apply it constructively.
An ability to work in a fast-paced environment, while juggling multiple tasks from multiple stakeholders.
A flexible attitude and a roll-with-it demeanor.
A sense of humor and the photoshop skills to back it up.
Who you'll work with:
An award-winning internal creative team made up of senior writers and designers, motion designers, art directors, copy managers, videographers, associate creative directors, and creative directors.
A passionate, hardworking, and nimble bunch for whom no project is too small and none too big (read: daunting) for us to deliver on.
We prioritize effort over ego, creativity over quick completion, and quality over absolutely everything.
Where you'll work:
A diverse marketplace that brings people together from around the world, uniting them in shared passions and connecting them to the things they love.
Our San Francisco or San Jose office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays; the other days are remote.
Will this candidate interface with IT and business teams? If so, which internal/external groups?
Looking to come in with experience and be a self starter and take initiative with design tasks

Going through a company-wide rebrand – and being able to make decisions or create concepts around things that are not implemented – looking to Strong conceptually and in their core design skills can have more senior tasks Able to be handed higher level design executions or tasks that need conceptual explaining
