Job Overview
The Graphic Designer is responsible for supporting Art Directors in creating a broad range of content, both print and digital. Design projects may include logo and icon creation, infographics, trade show collateral, event marketing materials, website page design and asset generation, social media images, PowerPoint presentations, and collateral associated with online advertising campaigns. The Graphic Designer will have a strong understanding of brand, knowledge of typography, and is able to take projects from concepts to completion. The Graphic Designer will effectively communicate and coordinate with the Art Directors and marketing departments to ensure that their work communicates the desired message and functions successfully for varying technical and performance specifications. The Graphic Designer must be capable of fulfilling the creative aspects of a project and have demonstrated strong business acumen.
Roles and Responsibilities
Visual Design
- Conceptualize, design, and execute a vast array of print and digital collateral for advertising and marketing campaigns in appropriate formats and media from conception to completion
- Brainstorm with the team to set and manage creative priorities for new digital properties and print deliverables
- Assist Art Directors in conceptualizing, strategizing, and developing corporate branding, rollout, and definition of standards and specifications
- Support Art Directors in website design and production from creating page mockups to generating assets for development
- Create engaging content for company website, blog, and social media
- Remain informed on current and emerging graphic, typography, and industry trends to strengthen the company’s marketing and product development
- Collaborate with vendors to create assets for tradeshows and assist with the set-up and design of the booth
- Collaborate with the Video Editor to create graphical assets for video production
- Assist with photography both in house and occasionally off-site at client headquarters (highly preferred)
- Understanding of basic HTML (highly preferred)
Design Strategy
- Partner with Art Directors and divisional Marketing Coordinators to conceptualize goals, including conversion rate and user engagement
- Ensure that SCS’s brand identity, style, and voice are successfully executed across projects, channels, campaigns, and other pertinent areas
- Ensure goals are met with effective project management skills
- Coordinate with the marketing team to ensure new concepts and ideas are developed and implemented effectively in a timely manner
- Monitor the website and suggest design improvements to usability and navigation
- Organize, monitor, archive, and maintain graphic and digital assets files for: website, social, PR, and divisional sales collateral
Minimum Qualifications
- BS or BA in Design or related degree and 1-3+ years of Graphic Design Experience
- Strong creative, organizational, problem solving and time-management skills
- Adaptable and quick learner; must be able to apply style guides creatively while upholding brand identity
- Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
- Basic understanding of: Responsive web design, motion graphics, photography and video
- Possess strong conceptual skills, high level sense of design, layout and typography, a broad thinker who is able to offer a variety of design solutions
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (orally and written)
- Expert knowledge in the mechanical production process for printed and digital media
- Work well with tight deadlines in a team environment
- Able to take projects from start to finish with minimal supervision
- Must be flexible with occasional travel
Physical Requirements
- Dexterity with hands.
- Must be able to speak and listen to employees and vendors in person and on the phone.
Work Environment
- This is an office based job.
- Sit 6+ hours per day.
