About the Job
Beacon Hill Financial has partnered with a non-profit in D.C. and we are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Grants Accountant to join the finance team in Washington, D.C. the finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, particularly in grants management, and a deep understanding of compliance regulations. The Grants Accountant will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of various grants, ensuring compliance, and supporting the team in the preparation of accurate financial reports.
Key Responsibilities:
Grant Financial Management:
- Oversee the financial aspects of all active grants, ensuring accurate allocation of funds and compliance with the terms of each grant agreement.
- Review and approve grant budgets, financial reports, and related documentation.
- Track grant expenses to ensure they align with the approved budget and donor guidelines.
Financial Reporting & Reconciliation:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for all grants, including variance analysis.
- Reconcile grant accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness of all transactions.
- Assist with year-end close and audit preparation, ensuring grant-related documentation is in compliance.
Compliance & Documentation:
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations, as well as donor requirements regarding grant expenditures.
- Maintain accurate and organized records for all grants, including contracts, financial statements, and correspondence.
- Review grant proposals, agreements, and contracts to ensure financial terms are clearly defined and feasible.
Audit Support:
- Assist in internal and external audits related to grant funding and provide necessary documentation during audits.
- Respond to audit inquiries and ensure all necessary paperwork is readily available for review.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with program managers and other departments to provide financial guidance and support for grant-funded projects.
- Help train staff on proper grant financial management and reporting practices.
Grant Monitoring & Tracking:
- Monitor grant timelines and ensure timely submission of financial reports to funding agencies.
- Support the development of systems for tracking grant activities, including funding status, deadlines, and reporting requirements.
