WHAT DOES YOUR DAY AS A GRANT ACCOUNTANT ENTAIL?
As the Grant Accountant, you will play a vital role in managing the fiscal aspects of various grants, particularly focusing on a state-funded cash assistance program. Your responsibilities will include adhering to federal and state guidelines such as the federal CFR 200 and the Grant Accountability and Transparency Act (GATA) as mandated by Illinois. Working within the financial operations team, you will uphold rigorous accounting control procedures and ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles to maintain financial integrity across all grant activities. DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in accounting, finance, or business management
- 3+ years of experience with a computerized accounting software system, preferably Microsoft Dynamics or Great Plains, with an emphasis on using Smartlist and Management Reporter
- Experience with automated payroll software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- 3+ years of experience in a relevant accounting position working as a full-cycle accountant
- 2+ years of experience working directly with fiscal grant reporting, preferably in a nonprofit environment
- 21+ years of age
