REPORTS TO: Location Manager
DEPARTMENT: Grain Department
EEO Classification: Operative (semi-skilled)
Primary Purpose: Ensure safe and efficient operation of grain elevator equipment and personnel.
General Description: Receive, ship, monitor, blend grain, condition and quality as well as maintain equipment in operational condition while following all Company, State and Federal Rules, Regulations, Policies and Procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Ensure safety compliance, through plant inspections, near miss and unsafe condition reporting and direct communication with supervisor in regards to safety.
- Follow all State and Federal DOT Rules and Regulations.
- Read, understand, and follow all Policies and Procedures.
- Comply with all Company, State and Federal Rules, Regulations and Policies.
- Operate all equipment & vehicles according to companies Policies and Procedures along with local, state and federal laws.
- Assist and follow preventive maintenance program and document activity.
- Assist in coordinating inbound grain receiving activities and segregation of grain.
- Assist in monitoring outside contractors and follow up with documentation.
- Assist in housekeeping & maintenance of the facility grounds including mowing, spraying weeds, and moving snow
- Assist in monitoring temperature cables, tracking fan usage, monitoring bunker storage (if applicable), monitoring grain dryer output and other location specific duties to ensure exceptional grain inventory quality.
- Communicate daily, activities and goals, needs and accomplishments with location manager.
- Location leadership role of grain quality, inventory control and safety compliance initiatives.
- Maintain and record preventative maintenance and housekeeping records in the appropriate recording system. (Documentation).
- Maintain facility appearance and operational condition.
- Understand inventory and measurement procedures.
- Work the number of hours needed to complete appropriate duties and responsibilities which may involve overtime (early morning and/or late evening) hours.
- Provide assistance with facility improvements and capital expenditures with location manager and operation manager.
- Help implement goals for location and self-improvement goals.
- Courteously and efficiently receive and disburse grain.
- Operate receiving control room and dryers
- Perform critical operations to keep facility running safely & efficiently.
- Maintain the general appearance of the facility to include elevator, grounds, and buildings etc.
- Ability to work in a grain handling environment.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery and equipment.
- Ability to load railcars if at a railcar facility.
OTHER DUTIES:
- Able to build morale and group commitments to achieve goals and objectives.
- Exhibit sound and accurate judgment.
- Project a positive attitude to customers and employees at all times.
- Provide courteous customer service.
- Report even minor injuries using the employee injury report form.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (Licenses can be obtained after hired)
Qualifications:
- 2+ years' grain experience preferred
- Self-motivated, ambitious and able to work under pressure
- Strong work ethic, problem solving skills and leadership abilities
- Maintenance experience a plus
- The ability to obtain 7C State Grain Fumigation License.
- Reliable vehicle to drive to and from work
- valid state motor vehicle license
- 20/20 vision in both eyes, with corrective lenses (if applicable)
