Summary
Iowa State Online, a unit within The Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching, seeks a dedicated Graduate Student Services Specialist to join the Iowa State Online Student Support team. The Graduate Student Services Specialist II will be pivotal in assisting prospective and current students in online programs. This position will provide personalized guidance and support throughout the student's academic journey, from recruitment and admissions to retention and conferral. As part of the Online Student Support team, you will help online students navigate the admissions process, academic policies, and student engagement opportunities. You will also collaborate with various campus units to ensure a seamless experience while fostering student success.
The successful candidate will have effective time management and organizational skills and have the ability to communicate effectively. All staff members are expected to interact collegially and maintain the highest standards of integrity and ethical behavior.
Key Responsibilities
+ Recruitment & Admissions Support: Assist prospective students with the admissions process, providing information on program offerings, student resources, and engagement opportunities.
+ Resource Referrals: Guide students to appropriate resources to enhance their academic success and retention in online programs.
+ Collaboration with Campus Units: Work closely with online programs and other campus departments to facilitate student activities, support processes, and manage requests from recruitment through to conferral.
+ Communication and Marketing: Provide content and maintain promotional and recruiting materials for online programs. Ensure that all materials are current, accurate, and align with program goals.
+ Enrollment & Retention Support: Assist in the application and enrollment processes, ensuring smooth coordination with Graduate College and Admissions. Help students with course registration, withdrawal, schedule changes, and pre-matriculation procedures.
+ Orientation & Onboarding: Support the orientation and onboarding process for new online students to help them transition successfully into their programs.
+ Student Progress Monitoring: Monitor student progress throughout their program and provide guidance or intervention as needed to ensure academic success.
+ Promotion of Online Programs: Participate in events and efforts to promote online programs to prospective students, both on-campus and virtually, to drive enrollment and increase awareness.
Level Guidelines• Intermediate-level position with solid professional and/or technical skills working under general supervision to achieve goals• Applies broad, working knowledge of the principles of the field to moderately complex, difficult, and varied problems and issues• Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action and resolve problems• Responds to a broad range of inquiries and requests• May provide training and/or direction to lower-level staff• May lead projects of moderate scope and complexity.• Provides guidance to students
