About the Job
This position will be part of Ashtabula Regional Medical Center's new patient care tower. The patient care tower will be a 115,000 square foot multi-story building with 55 new private patient rooms, including a new Intensive Care Unit; five new operating rooms in the Surgical Suite; and 24 new rooms in the Emergency Department. The new patient rooms will have private bathrooms and showers and will be more spacious and comfortable for families while visiting their loved one.
The new tower will create an even better environment for our patients and caregivers and incorporates the latest technology in healthcare. Caregiver input was a critical piece of the tower design process. Caregivers were involved to help ensure the tower was designed around their workflow, not the other way around. Job Summary:
The RN Graduate Intern works under the direction of a Registered Nurse preceptor to orient to the role of the registered nurse. Demonstrates an understanding that all employees are responsible for patient safety. Performs indirect patient care duties that support the efficient functioning of the nursing unit as assigned by the Registered Nurse. This includes the ability to utilize electronic medical record systems to assist in the care of the patient. Provides age appropriate care. Adheres to organizational policy and procedure. Adheres to Patient First philosophy. This role encounters Protected Health Information (PHI) as part of regular responsibilities.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Graduate of an approved School of Nursing and does not hold a license as an R.N.
Required Length and Type of Experience
- Graduate of an approved School of Nursing but not currently licensed
- Basic computer skills.
- Excellent customer interaction skills.
Required Licensure or Certification
- Current BLS certification (maybe obtained during orientation).
Required Physical and Environmental Demands
- Sitting, standing, ability to utilize keyboard, lifting, stooping, flexible scheduling and adaptable to changing environment. Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires walking and standing for extensive periods of time.
