Job Summary:
The Grader Operator is in charge for operating grading equipment. As well as responsible for achieving precise and accurate grading to create a stable foundation for construction projects.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Operates and maintains motor graders to perform precise grading work on construction sites.
- Utilizes GPS or laser-guided systems to achieve accurate grading according to project specifications.
- Prepares construction sites by clearing, grading, and leveling surfaces to create a stable foundation.
- Works closely with other construction team members, including surveyors and equipment operators, to ensure project goals are met.
- Adheres to all safety guidelines and protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
- Performs routine maintenance and inspections on graders to ensure optimal performance.
- Identifies and address issues or challenges encountered during the grading process.
- Maintains accurate records of work performed, including materials used, hours worked, and any equipment issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Proficient in the operation of motor graders and related construction equipment.
- Ability to use GPS or laser-guided systems for precise grading.
- Excellent mechanical skills.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Proficient in the operation of bulldozers and other heavy equipment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least two years of related experience required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to operate finish graders for extended periods.
- Must be able to physically operate heavy equipment.
- Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and stand to operate and repair heavy equipment.
- Must be able to work in all types of weather, including extremely hot and extremely cold temperatures.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
