Position Overview
Godfrey Pontoon and Hurricane Deck Boats are searching for a Design Engineer with experience in the Marine Industry or recreational products. Knowledge of the marine industry with experience operating boats and USCG laws is a plus. Looking for a self-motivated worker who will take ownership of projects and work within the constraints of budgets and timelines to get the project to the finish line. Mechanical Engineering degree with a proven track record of successful products introduction in the market on time and budget is a plus.

Essential Job Functions
+ Strong 3D CAD capabilities and knowledge of using configurations with Solidworks is preferred.
+ Creating detailed 2D drawings from 3D models and controlling revisions is required.
+ Must be able to write Engineering Change Requests and communicate them with production.
+ Work with Sourcing and Purchasing to research new products and implement them into production.
+ Able to create accurate production ready sophisticated surface models.
+ Create photo realistic images is a plus.
+ Strong 2D sketching using Draftsight or AutoCAD is preferred.
+ Rendering skills, digital sketching is a plus.
+ NMMA/ABYC experience is a plus.
+ Knowledge of fiberglass, stainless steel, aluminum, and other materials used in marine manufacturing is required.
+ Design new parts with knowledge of CNC nesting requirements to reduce scrap.
+ Must be a hands-on worker to prove out designs using power tools such as screw guns, drills, and table saws.

+ Production engineering & troubleshooting/problem solving
+ Willingness to work variable schedule to assure successful project completion
+ Develops and maintains designs in support of the product plan
+ Participates in the development of product plans
+ Monitor projects during the Concept and Development phases
+ Proposes changes to the product line with the goal of improving ease of use for the customer and reducing the cost of production
+ Able and willing to use power tools and saws for prototypes
+ Excellent written and oral communication skills
+ Ability to research and troubleshoot problems
+ Skilled with computer tools (MSOffice suite, SolidWorks)
+ Excellent problem-solving skills are a must
+ Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Non-essential Job Functions
+ Individuals may need to sit or stand as needed. May require walking primarily on a level surface throughout the day. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the work day. Proper lifting techniques required. May include lifting more than 25 pounds. Periodically required to climb ladders to gain access to the interior of boats.
Requirements
+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience usually acquired through more than 5 years’ experience developing boats / related products
+ Good working knowledge of design and mechanical capabilities of common boat building materials
+ NMMA Compliance Specialist
Other Skills/Abilities
+ Excellent personal computer skills—word processing, spreadsheets and databases
+ Proficient in 3D modeling software (SolidWorks, CATIA, UG, etc.)
+ Operation of boats in river or lake environment
