GENERAL SUMMARY
This role works closely with the VP of GME Diversity & Inclusion and the DEI Senior Project Manager for Diversity & Inclusion to assist in the execution of all functions of the Graduate Medical Education Department’s Diversity & Inclusion programming. This will include compiling data, coordinating events, and providing support on special projects at Sinai Chicago. The fellow will provide input and design programs with the goal of helping develop Sinai Chicago residency programs into health equity-focused programs that are in tune with the needs of URiM medical students as they seek residency programs that alight with their career aspirations. Skills related to community engagement and social media connecting and marketing will be highly utilized to attract the target audience of URiM students and physicians. This role also provides operational coordination, administrative support, and program coordination that assists with the development of pipeline programs for URiM students from early STEM learners through residency in the effort to increase diversity and inclusion in physician staffing in underserved communities. This role includes clinical shadowing as a medical student in the specialty that the fellow is interested in as they apply for residency the upcoming year. Additionally, the fellow will have the opportunity to engage in clinical research if they choose.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in a relevant area
- Has completed 4th year of Medical school and will be applying for the 2023 NRMP Match
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 2-5 years of relevant work experience with a significant portion in an academic medical center, healthcare, process, and project management, and/or other academic environment.
- Prior experience in healthcare, medical education, and program coordination is useful. Strong passion for Diversity and Inclusion required.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Demonstrated ability to provide quality client service to both internal and external contacts, regarding both routine and complex matters. Requires tact, patience, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Highly organized with the ability to work independently.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing. This includes editing work for spelling and grammar, with high attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects in a dynamic and complex environment, meeting and communicating around deadlines and successfully managing the daily workload.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Suite, to produce quality written communications, including presentations and complex functions of Excel.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others in a cooperative manner, to accomplish work and participate in team efforts.
- Demonstrated ability to represent the hospital with professionalism and honesty, consistently acting in an ethical manner.
