Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Global Strategic Marketing Manager to join our $700 Million+ Life Sciences business. This position will be based out of our Wilmington, DE facility with global responsibilities. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and commercial function. This position will report to the Senior Director, Global Marketing and Business Development, Life Sciences.
The Global Strategic Marketing Manager will be responsible for leading and developing pharmaceutical coatings projects across all regions. You will help to develop and drive strategic projects, global strategy and marketing plans and lead the implementation of targets/measures. In addition, you will need to help create consumer insights to drive innovation and new product development in the pharmaceutical coatings sector. Lastly, you will monitor and analyze market and competitive intelligence in the global pharmaceutical markets.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Develop marketing strategy based on a deep understanding of market trends, market dynamics, customer needs and the problems we’re trying to solve.
- Provide information, insight and analysis that supports the development and update of business strategy
- Identify and assess potential business opportunities utilizing market research, business intelligence, competitive and scientific analysis and pursue/maximize opportunities with the end goal of growing revenue and increasing profitability and market share.
- Identify opportunities to improve pipeline conversion and partner cross functionally to implement improvements
- Accountable for the overall performance of our pharmaceutical coatings product portfolio
- Partner with global teams in Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Regulatory to ensure operational excellence.
- Partner with Global Film Coatings leader, Commercial Sales Leaders across North and South America, EMEA, and Asia Pacific regions to maximize profitability and drive pipeline conversion.
- Partner with R&D to ensure quality pipeline and execution of the projects throughout the entire process (from inception of project and business case development to scale-up, process engineering, capacity utilization, manufacturing, etc.);
- Define key marketing performance metrics and tracking tools to provide market research, forecasts, competitive analyses, campaign results and market trends in order to translate results into actionable insights
- Develop and deliver application and product training sessions to sales and distributors together with technical team
In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, pharmacy, chemistry, or related field.
- An advanced degree, preferably an MBA, MS is preferred
- Relevant knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, film coatings or medical materials industry is preferred.
- At least 3 years of experience in a related field
- ability to travel, up to 25% globally
- past experience working within a phase/stage gate development process is preferred
- Strong sense of personal accountability regarding decision-making
- Highly analytical and strategic thinker excited to identify and create opportunities to grow business
- An enthusiastic problem-solver with a strong result orientation
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and working collaboratively, cross-functionally, and globally
- Ability to build a compelling business case to justify executing on business proposals with financial acumen
- Ability to thrive in a multinational and multicultural environment
