Job Description Summary
As a member of the study abroad team, the Global Programs Manager (GPM) is responsible for the coordination and administration of Penn Abroad’s outbound programming and advising on a portfolio of study abroad programs. In close collaboration with on-campus academic partners and overseas partners, the GPM administers the student application, selection, and admissions related to their respective study abroad portfolio. The GPM coordinates and delivers student advising, outreach, and information sessions, leads student pre-departure programming, and manages student communications and support at all phases of their experience, from pre-departure through their return to campus. With oversight from their supervisor, this position manages partner engagement and student and staff relationships within their assigned portfolio. Job Description
Job Responsibilities
+ Advise undergraduate students on available education abroad opportunities in individual and group sessions, ensuring compliance with the Penn Abroad and home school advising models and eligibility.
+ Maintain open and positive relationships and communications with internal and external partners, including relevant academic departments, home school academic advisors, education abroad providers, and partner institutions overseas.
+ Provide support and follow-up to students during all parts of their engagement with Penn Abroad in a thorough and timely manner, upholding exemplary standards of customer service.
+ Provide pre-departure programming and support for outbound students, personal and administrative support for students while abroad, and engage in post-experience programming for returned students.
+ Prepare and update information and materials for programming abroad within Terra Dotta, including application review and tracking, student selection, and student nomination procedures to host universities.
Qualifications
+ A bachelor’s degree and 2-3 years of experience in education abroad advising and/or program management, or equivalent combination of education and experience, are required; Master's degree preferred.
+ Demonstrated organizational skills, written and oral communication skills, and intercultural communication skills.
+ Commitment to student service and ability to work effectively with faculty, students, and university representatives from different cultural backgrounds.
+ Excellent judgment and ability to deal with difficult situations. Experience in crisis management.
+ Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed, including being able to serve as a staff leader for the Penn Global Seminars (PGS) program at least once per academic year. Staff travel needs, including PGS staff leader demands, vary annually according to the needs of the Penn Abroad team.
+ Must be able to work occasional nights and weekends.
+ Experience with the Terra Dotta application management system preferred but not required.
