About the Job
This position is responsible for developing and executing global scientific communication plans including, but not limited to, scientific communications platforms (SCP), SCP downstream communications deliverables, and publication enhancement materials to communicate scientific data and ensure consistent messaging across regions/functions/channels. Contribute to the success of Global Medical Information by generating and/or peer reviewing high-quality Medical Information/Medical Affairs materials, supporting medical information requests from Regional Medical Affairs leads, maintaining the Information Request Management System (IRMS) including IRMS configuration, addition of local materials into IRMS and any reporting needs, and supporting Global Marketing by providing medical oversight and review of promotional materials.
Reporting to the Director of Medical Information, this role creates evidence-based user-friendly materials for various channels and audience to communicate scientific data in a timely and compliant manner to support the organizational and departmental objectives.
Responsibilities
Scientific Communications Plan:
- Support the development and execution of strategic scientific communication plans by creating scientific content for publication enhancement and consistent messaging, including SCPs (platforms and needed pre-review and updating. Develop materials (i.e.. Interactive slides) and graphic designs for scientific and medical messaging.
Create Global Medical Information/Medical Affairs Materials:
- Research, create, update, and review Medical Information Standard Response Letters (SRLs) and other materials (e.g., custom response materials for unique inquiries, frequently asked question documents, slide decks), to ensure up-to-date with accurate, evidence-based, and balanced information for utilization in response to healthcare provider (HCP) and consumer medical information inquiries.
- Peer review medical information materials.
- Support review of SRL and material usage and inquiry trend analysis to help determine when new materials should be developed or retired.
- Adhere to medical writing processes for quality document preparation, document review, accurate comment resolution/incorporation, and document finalization.
- Ensure materials align with global medical strategy.
Conduct Literature Searches:
- Conduct and provide results from literature searches specific to unsolicited medical inquiries and/or relative to project writing needs.
Provide medical oversight and review of materials submitted for global promotional review:
- Provide medical review of global promotional materials for all Merz products alongside Regulatory and Legal bodies.
- Actively participate in all scheduled and ad hoc meetings to ensure all materials are revised and approved in a timely manner.
Content Process Management:
- Serve as the central coordinator for the development and review of publication enhancement content with internal stakeholders and external authors to ensure materials are produced in the most compliant and efficient manner.
Advisory Board/Consensus Generation:
- Help prepare and conduct advisory boards to address publication/research gaps and/or new initiatives with publications deliverables (such as HCP communications/discussion preparation, contracting, meeting logistics).
Vendors:
- Manage relationships with third party vendors to ensure project success
Other duties as assigned:
- Provide Medical Affairs central services support related to scientific communications and publications for internal and external customers, as needed.
Technical & Functional Skills:
- Expert knowledge of medical writing guidelines such as ICMJE, GPP.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively to meet established deadlines
- Strong project and time management skills. Capable of managing multiple projects. Strong prioritizing skills
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent computer skills for content design and creation
- Excellent medical writing and editing skills with strong attention to detail
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or above in science related field
- 5-7 years’ experience in scientific research
- 3+ years industry experience related to scientific communications or medical writing
- 2+ years’ experiences in publication enhancement content creation
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced scientific degree (PhD etc.)
- 2+ years’ experiences in digital medical communications
