We’re currently on the lookout for a Global Head of Engineering to join the Nikola engineering team to deliver our state-of-the-art battery electric and hydrogen fuel cell electric class 8 semi-trucks to market. In this role you will lead analysis, design, validation, and release of the following areas:
• Propulsion Engineering
• Vehicle Integration
• ADAS
• Electrical Engineering
• Vehicle Engineering
• Battery Systems
• Hydrogen Systems
You will:
- Lead cross-functional teams, suppliers, manufacturing, testing, and validation teams on the complete life cycle of the project through product launch, and implementation of lessons learned on subsequent products (cradle-to-cradle responsibility)
- Execute innovative roadmaps, portfolios, and sustainability strategies
- Maintain and enhance technical relationship with key technical stakeholders
- Create and shape an inclusive, collaborative, and inspiring working culture
- Develop a highly motivated, professional, and skilled team to the next level
- Utilize competitive insights to refine our product offerings
- Manage the product development budget, allocating resources effectively to achieve project milestones and objectives
- Design a culture of open feedback by partnering with the COO to receive feedback on product design
You have:
- BSME, BS Automotive Engineering or related degree
- 15+ years automotive or heavy truck industry mechanical, design or product development experience
- Excellent communications skills demonstrated ability to communicate at all levels
- Strong grasp of solid and fluid mechanics fundamentals
- Proven experience in leading vehicle design and development teams.
- Working knowledge of GD&T, FMEA, DVP&R, DFSS, DFA, DFM, APQP, VAVE and problem resolution (8D, Ishikawa diagrams, etc.)
- Engineering knowledge of defined requirements and validation of component(s) / system(s) design, function, performance, production & manufacturing requirements, testing, and validation
- Experience launching automotive or trucking products
Candidates must have current U.S. work authorization or be TN eligible from Mexico or Canada. This position is not eligible for CPT or OPT.
