Estimator - Curtain Wall and Storefront Systems
Job Summary: Our team is thrilled to partner with a well-established glazing company to hire an experienced Estimator specializing in curtain wall and storefront systems to join their dynamic team. As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in accurately assessing project costs, preparing comprehensive estimates, and contributing to the success of our organization. Your expertise in estimating curtain wall and storefront systems will ensure the delivery of precise and competitive bids, supporting our goals of client satisfaction and project profitability.
Responsibilities:
- Project Assessment: Evaluate project requirements and specifications for curtain wall and storefront systems. Collaborate with the project team to gain a comprehensive understanding of design intent, materials, and other relevant factors.
- Cost Estimation: Utilize your expertise to prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for curtain wall and storefront projects, incorporating factors such as labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services. Ensure estimates align with project specifications, quality standards, and industry best practices.
- Quantity Takeoffs: Perform quantity takeoffs from architectural drawings and specifications, identifying the required quantities of materials and labor for each project component. Maintain meticulous documentation of takeoff calculations and sources.
- Vendor and Supplier Relations: Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to obtain accurate pricing information for materials and services required in curtain wall and storefront systems. Foster and maintain strong relationships to secure competitive pricing and stay informed about industry trends and advancements.
- Bid Preparation: Prepare comprehensive and competitive bid proposals, including detailed breakdowns of costs, specifications, schedules, and other relevant information. Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure bids are submitted in a timely manner, meeting all requirements and deadlines.
- Knowledge Development: Stay updated with the latest industry trends, codes, regulations, and advancements in curtain wall and storefront systems. Share knowledge and best practices within the organization to enhance overall estimating capabilities.
- Collaborative Approach: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including architects, engineers, project managers, and contractors, to facilitate effective communication, resolve queries, and ensure accurate interpretation of project requirements.
- Cost Analysis: Conduct thorough cost analysis during and after project completion, comparing actual costs against estimated costs. Identify areas of improvement and contribute to post-project evaluations to refine future estimates.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of project estimates, bid proposals, correspondence, and related documentation. Generate regular reports summarizing project costs, variances, and other relevant metrics as requested by management.
Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in estimating curtain wall and storefront systems for commercial, residential, or institutional projects. Proven track record of successfully bidding and estimating projects of varying sizes and complexities.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of curtain wall and storefront systems, materials, installation methods, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in reading architectural drawings, specifications, and conducting quantity takeoffs.
- Estimating Software: Proficient in using industry-standard estimating software and tools such as AutoCAD, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar applications. Familiarity with project management software is a plus.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and mathematical abilities to accurately assess project costs, perform quantity takeoffs, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with internal teams, clients, vendors, and subcontractors. Ability to present complex information clearly and effectively.
- Detail-oriented: Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate and comprehensive estimates, bid proposals, and documentation.
