We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Permanent GIS Water Resource Specialist to join our dynamic team in the Engineering industry. This unique role will allow you to showcase your expertise in GIS (Geographic Information Systems), water resource management, and engineering principles to address complex water-related issues. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mapping, graphic reports, and a deep understanding of water resource management.
Responsibilities:
As a GIS Water Resource Specialist, you will be expected to:
1. Utilize GIS software to analyze and interpret geospatial data related to water resources.
2. Create, update, and manage water resource databases, including the development and maintenance of spatial and attribute data.
3. Develop high-quality maps and graphic reports to communicate complex data to a range of audiences, from technical experts to the general public.
4. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, hydrologists, and environmental scientists to develop innovative solutions to water resource management challenges.
5. Conduct field investigations and assessments of water resources, including surface water, groundwater, and stormwater.
6. Participate in the planning, design, and implementation of water resource projects, such as flood risk management, water supply, and water quality improvement projects.
7. Provide technical expertise in the application of GIS technologies to support water resource management and decision-making.
8. Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in GIS and water resource management to ensure the application of best practices in all projects.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate must possess the following qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or higher is preferred.
2. Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in GIS and water resource management.
3. Proficiency in GIS software, such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar, and experience with database management.
4. Demonstrated ability to create high-quality maps and graphic reports.
5. Strong understanding of hydrologic and hydraulic principles and their application in water resource management.
6. Experience in conducting field investigations and assessments of water resources.
7. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
8. Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to a variety of audiences.
9. Professional certification in GIS or water resource management is a plus.
