TCI has an immediate need for a GIS Development and Support Specialist in Frankfort, KY. This is not a C2C opportunity. This is a long-term contract opportunity with probable extensions. SUMMARY
- Help Desk Support – The successful candidate:
- Must have at least two years of experience in hands-on, complex GIS analysis, troubleshooting, and customer support. This includes data editing (preferably including data design and management as well), map production, and preferably web or mobile GIS app creation.
- Must have strong experience with the ESRI technology stack. Experience using ArcGIS Pro is preferred. Additional experience with Bentley’s GIS/CADD solutions and Google mapping is a plus.
- Must enjoy engaging customers to understand (1) what problem(s) they are trying to solve, (2) how their business works, and (3) what technologies might help.
- Must have excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Will provide technical support to the Cabinet’s GIS customers as well as the public. This requires excellent problem-solving skills to resolve issues with Web-based, desktop (local and via Citrix), and mobile solutions.
- Must have excellent attention to detail, able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and reprioritize tasks as circumstances change.
- Must understand how customer needs translate into data designs that then drive the applications that solve customer problems.
- Must be capable of translating customer needs into successful customer outcomes. This includes (1) understanding the customer’s challenge, (2) researching and determining viable solutions, (3) presenting ideas to peers to assure solutions integrate with larger spatial/data enterprise, and upon agreement, (4) delivering and training customers in the solution.
- Other duties as assigned – Other duties within some of the following areas may become part of the successful candidate’s work, depending on their skills:
- CADD/Engineering (BIM) process integration.
- Automation using
- FME
- Python, R, or other programming development tools.
- UAS-based data capture.
- Mobile app development
- Teaching spatial technology to customers.
- Bachelor’s Degree with a focus in IT or equivalent combination of experience/knowledge.
- 2+ years of experience with GIS Analysis including use of ArcGIS Pro.
- Strong decision-making, conflict resolution, and facilitation skills.
- Detail oriented with advanced problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently/self-reliant and show initiative with minimum supervision.
- Ability to quickly learn new technology and apply appropriately to business situations.
- Strong team player who enjoys working in a fast-paced team atmosphere.
- Ability to work under pressure; meet strict deadlines.
- Ability to listen effectively and seek clarification.
- Ability to build a rapport with clients.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Must be able to effectively and comfortably communicate with all types of individuals from the customer technical expert to the customer executive management.
