The Opportunity:
We are seeking a mid-level GIS Engineer to join our dynamic and innovative team. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for analyzing spatial data through mapping software and designing digital maps with geographical data and various other data sets. They will be an integral part of our team, interpreting and producing complex data that helps drive decisions and solutions for our clients.
Job Responsibilities:
- Analyze spatial data, interpret and produce maps, and troubleshoot data problems.
- Utilize GIS technology to provide a better understanding of certain variables in a given geographic location.
- Present data in a clear and compelling way in the form of map books and reports.
- Develop in-depth reports involving metrics and advanced graphic representations.
- Aid in the development of enhanced data infrastructure or revise current data infrastructure.
Desired Qualifications:
- 3-5 years experience as a GIS Engineer or in a similar role
- Knowledge of database administration and data maintenance
- Proficiency with GIS technology and experience with spatial analysis methodologies
- Experience using scripting language for automation such as Python with experience in GeoPandas, Numpy, or Shapely libraries.
- Extensive experience processing data with Python
- Experience designing API's
- SQL knowledge
Nice-to-Haves:
- Have a bachelor's degree in GIS, IT, or related field
- Previous experience in a government or public sector role
- GISP certification
- Experience with GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
