About the Job
HILGARTWILSON, a Colliers Engineering & Design affiliate, is seeking a GIS Analyst II. The successful candidate will provide technical support on projects by performing a variety of Esri-based GIS-related task assignments, including creating geodatabase models, preparing data collector project files for field collection, preparing and printing map deliverables, and utilizing ArcGIS Online for internal and external client deliverables.
The GIS Analyst position concentrates on data creation and conversion in ArcGIS Pro for various assets such as utilities, stormwater, property parcels, and transportation. The position demands proficiency in mapping and database creation. The candidate must be familiar with database-derived information and data analysis. The GIS Analyst ensures that project tasks are complete, accurate, and in accordance with GIS standard procedures.
- Collect, analyze, and prepare GIS data into informative map product deliverable via hard copy map books sets and ArcGIS Online web maps
- Perform Esri desktop mapping and spatial analysis tasks using Esri ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online
- Finalize field data collection information from Esri field applications to final geodatabase and other project deliverables
- Complete assignments in the specific time periods requested while ensuring accuracy, completeness, quality, and thoroughness of results
- Create geodatabase models and prepare and conduct GPS-based data collection field tasks through Esri ArcGIS field applications.
- Gather, compile, migrate and convert data sets for project needs from a variety of internal and external sources (e.g. conversion between CADD and GIS)
- Evaluate data from multiple sources to determine the quality and ensure data is clean and accurate
- Research, update, and maintain numerous GIS datasets and templates
- Champion GIS solutions for the local office for both data collection and delivery
- Apply understanding of the definition, projection, and application of different coordinate systems for both vector and raster datasets in ArcGIS
- Develops and implements quality control procedures on a vast array of datatypes, including reviewing data for completeness and accuracy
- Produces presentation quality maps using cartographic design standards for public, client, and internal usage
- Catalogs and inventories GIS data, including metadata usage
- Develops and edits large and complex GIS databases
- Creates and manages data to support 3D visualization
- Explains the values of GIS technology and processes to non-technical audiences
- Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography or related field with demonstrated coursework in GIS.
- Esri Certifications and/or GISP a plus.
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience working in the field of GIS.
- Minimum 3 years of experience with Esri ArcGIS Pro, Esri ArcGIS Online, Collector, and Survey123.
- Experience in data conversion, data management, and GIS digitization and analysis.
- Experience using python, arcade, VBScript, Jscript or SQL for minor formatting and query functions.
- Demonstrated ability in Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Skilled in reading and interpreting engineering plans, specifications, and other map documents.
- Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to grasp new technical concepts quickly.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, being self-motivated while working independently.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, analytical and time management skills.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
- Extended period of time operating a computer in a stationary position
- On occasion could spend full eight hour day of working in the field collecting data based on project needs
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
- Must be able to travel to various project sites
- Must be able to walk long distances and navigate rough terrain
