JOB SUMMARY:
- As a GI Lab Technician, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring high-quality care for patients undergoing gastrointestinal procedures.
EXPERIENCE:
- Prefer one (1) year previous experience as a G.I. Instrument Technician or possess equivalent experience as determined by the Director of Surgical Services or by the G.I. Lab Supervisor.
- Demonstrates proper technique in cleaning and disinfecting endoscopes and endoscopic accessories.
- Maintains office supplies and equipment, ensuring proper usage and care.
- Provides effective communication and support within the healthcare team and to patients.
EDUCATION:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
LICENSURES/CERTIFICATION:
- Current BLS certification (must be maintained).
- C.N.A. license preferred; Surgical Technician License preferred.
- Must successfully complete and maintain LA City Fire Card certification within the first 30 days of employment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (These are the essential job functions for this position. The essential functions of this job include, but may not be limited to those listed in this job description. - Adhere to established Hospital/departmental policies and procedures, objectives, Quality Assessment and Improvement Program, Infection Assessment, and Improvement Program, legal, safety, environment control standards, and Patient’s Bill of Rights.
- Identify, prepare, and ensure the availability of appropriate supplies and equipment for G.I. procedures.
- Demonstrate proper techniques in cleaning and disinfecting endoscopes and endoscopic accessories.
- Properly use and maintain monitoring logs for disinfecting agents and endoscope washers.
- Assist physicians during endoscopic procedures as appropriate.
- Maintain and care for equipment and supplies, documenting maintenance and reporting defects or deficiencies.
- Transport patients safely.
- Demonstrate the safe use of electrosurgical units and knowledge of the computer/video system.
- Provide comfort and support to patients, demonstrating sensitivity to their care and privacy.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team, demonstrating a positive and cooperative manner.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and identify career and educational needs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Salary Range: $24.12 to $34.75 per hour
