RMA’s team is growing, and we have opportunities for experienced geotechnical (soils and/or concrete) special inspectors to perform field inspections and observations for commercial, industrial, and transportation related construction projects. This role will be working out of our Earth Engineers Division in Aiea, Hawaii.

RMA’s team is growing, and we have opportunities for experienced geotechnical (soils and/or concrete) special inspectors to perform field inspections and observations for commercial, industrial, and transportation related construction projects. This role will be working out of our Earth Engineers Division in Aiea, Hawaii.
Duties:
You will be expected to:
- Interpret project plans and specifications for compliance with projects requirements
- Prepare and submit written field reports summarizing daily activities/observations and results
- Monitor work procedures for compliance with project specifications
- Interact with client representative (supervisors, foremen, project managers, engineers, etc.) at project sites
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Complete soils inspections, including:
- Earthwork operations including placement and compaction of structural fill, utility trench backfill, subgrade preparation, excavation, placement of stone protection
- Identifying and verifying the use of approved materials, moisture-conditioning, lift thicknesses and degree of compaction during placement of fill
- Sampling and testing of compacted fill materials
- Complete concrete inspections, including:
- Concrete pre-placement inspections: reinforcing steel installation, prestressing, formwork, embeds
- Concrete placement inspections: placement, consolidation, testing, finishing, curing, protection
Education/Qualifications:
The following minimum requirements apply to this position:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year experience
- U.S. Citizenship or legal authorization to work in the U.S.
- Ability to work on federal military installation sites
- Valid Driver’s License
- Must pass background check, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
At least one of the following requirements must be met for this position:
- ICC Soils Special Inspector Certificate
- NICET Soils Technician Level II Certificate in Construction Material Testing
- Geologist-In-Training or Engineer-In-Training with three years of related experience
- PCI Quality Control Technician/ Inspector Level II Certificate
- ICC Reinforced Concrete Special Inspector Certificate
- ICC Pre-stressed Special Inspector Certificate
- ACI Concrete Construction Special Inspector
- Registered Professional Engineerwith related experience
