Job Responsibilities:
+ Effectively manage projects, resources, and staff while providing expert technical guidance in geotechnical engineering across diverse projects — in both public and private sectors — and ensure strict adherence to applicable guidelines.
+ Perform geotechnical design, investigation, and analysis for buildings and infrastructure projects, including residential/commercial buildings, bridges, highways, railways, airports, pipelines, and levees/basins.
+ Direct and supervise subsurface explorations, laboratory testing, and geotechnical data interpretation to ensure a high-quality, timely, and within-budget delivery of the projects.
+ Perform geotechnical design and analysis for shallow and deep foundations, earthworks recommendations, slope stability and seepage analyses, lateral earth pressure calculations, and other pertinent analyses in support of a wide range of projects in public and private sectors.
+ Supervise and lead geotechnical support during construction of geotechnical elements, including shallow and deep foundations, grading, utility trenching, and other earthwork operations.
+ Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, and governmental personnel, ensuring that all geotechnical concerns are addressed comprehensively.
+ Mentor and train junior geotechnical engineers and foster their professional development.
+ Play an active role in professional associations.
Minimum Requirements:
+ A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering suffices; a master’s degree in geotechnical engineering wows but is not a dealbreaker.
+ Minimum 6 years of experience in geotechnical engineering practice with an emphasis on geotechnical design and analysis, geotechnical field investigation, and construction supervision.
+ The successful candidate should be a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Idaho or ability to obtain.
+ Local experience and familiarity with the local engineering practice.
Technical Proficiency:
+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for team-based working.
+ Geotechnical background including fundamental knowledge of principles of geotechnical engineering, soil and rock mechanics, pavement engineering, and groundwater hydrology.
+ Experience in construction oversight for foundation and pavement construction and earthwork observation.
+ Experience with geotechnical engineering software; we would rather you were well-versed in a few than only-sort-of-acquainted with many.
+ Familiarity with IBC and AASHTO standards, guidelines, and deliverables.
+ Demonstrated ability to lead small to medium-scale geotechnical projects and manage field geologists and engineers.
Other miscellaneous qualities:
+ Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
+ Must be able to pass a background check for clearance to work on various private and government facilities.
+ Limited travel to areas surrounding the Boise area.
