The Geologist supports various geotechnical and microscopy projects at the CBAL Office as a technical expert.

The Geologist supports various geotechnical and microscopy projects at the CBAL Office as a technical expert.
Significant Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
- Works with all levels of technical staff with respect to the analysis, interpretation and reporting of analytical and complementary data
- Prepares and analyzes soils to determine physical properties (particle size analysis, specific gravity, density, permeability, soil strength, etc.) following standardized methods and company procedures
- Calibrates, maintains, and troubleshoots laboratory equipment
- Performs microscopy including PLM/PCM
- Performs ASTM geotechnical methods
- Interprets analytical data and prepares detailed reports that summarize the findings to clients
- Performs calculations and data reduction of test results
- Prepares and reviews laboratory reports
- One year of asbestos PLM/PCM experience preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or Physical Science (Geotechnical Engineering, Physics, Environmental Science, and/or Chemistry) preferred
- Polarized light microscopy or optical mineralogy/petrographic microscope training/coursework required
- Familiarity with soil strength and permeability principles preferred
- Must be able to distinguish colors to perform asbestos analysis
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced setting, multi-task, and prioritize assignments
- Must have good communication, computer, typing and organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Must be team oriented
