About the Job
Meta is seeking a Generator Subject Matter Expert to join our Data Center Facility Operations team. Our data centers serve as the foundation upon which our software operates to meet the demand of our customers. The Generator Subject Matter Expert will be a part of the facility operations team and will be responsible for being the emergency and back-up generator system operations and maintenance expert. The candidate will need to be experienced in all aspects of generator theory, operations, and maintenance of the complete generator system and have a working knowledge of electrical distribution and general mechanical systems. The candidate will support data center daily operations and global quality/standardization initiatives and will have a working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.

Generator Subject Matter Expert Responsibilities:
- Serve as technical/consultative resource for generators and supporting equipment with an emphasis on practical/field application.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain generators and all associated fuel and support systems.
- Assist with regulatory compliance and reporting related to air quality and emissions.
- Assist in authoring processes and procedures for generators and related equipment.
- Analyze data, develop metrics, and identify trends related to generator reliability. Contribute togenerator maintenance and repair strategy.
- On-site lead for root cause analysis activities in area of expertise.
- Provide training to critical facility engineers on emergency generators and supporting equipment.
- Manage generator vendor relationships, scheduling, and work scope.
- Supervise and validate vendor-performed activities (startup, commissioning, maintenance, etc.)
- Ensure appropriate cross-functional collaboration between local SME and EHS teams.
- Travel expectations can be significant during the first 1-3 months for initial training andonboarding. After initial onboarding, travel expectations are 10-15%, and then ongoingoccasional travel for factory witness tests, collaboration, training, etc.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 5+ years of experience in generator maintenance or diesel mechanic trade experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or trade certification in related field plus 3+ years relevant industry experience will be considered in lieu of 5+ years industry experience.
- Knowledge of power generation and transfer systems.
- Knowledge of diesel fuel system components, fuel storage and fuel quality management.
- Working knowledge of critical facility operations with experience or understanding of procedure-based work.
- Experience working in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment.
- Experience in comprehending plans, specifications, and equipment shop drawings.
- Experience interpreting blueprints/CAD drawings.
