General Manager - Caribbean Food Delights, Inc.

Caribbean Food Delights (CFD), a privately owned & operated company, is the leading manufacturer of Jamaican Style Patties: beef, chicken and vegetable. Our state-of-the-art facility is SQF Level 3 certified. We are seeking an experienced, motivated, trustworthy and ethical self-starter who can create strategic direction and lead a team of several managers. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Oversee the plant operation and provide general management and leadership, including efforts to facilitate timely and cost-effective order fulfillment and product and service quality; monitor and control labor costs of all departments.
• Achieve production plan on a weekly and monthly basis and ensure customer service remain at a high level; accomplish the companys production goals and objectives ensuring that the plant operates in a safe, efficient and profitable manner.
• Provide regular direction and leadership to managers, with an emphasis on operating efficiency, productivity and production output.
• Drive continuous, process improvement, lean initiative and change management.
• Develop, monitor and report on operating costs within functional areas.
• Identify improvement opportunities, make recommendations and implement solutions.
• Coach and develop team members, by engaging in key or targeted customer activities.
• Evaluate and make recommendations for key investments in equipment, infrastructure and talent
• Influence and manage culture and lead innovative practices for the betterment of the business.
• Coordinate work activities among the various departments, on an on-going basis.
• Communicate information effectively, on all levels, to ensure finished products exceed established quality standards.
• Have up-to-date knowledge of all suppliers and current machinery which will develop business for the future.
• Improve waste management and environmental factors, continuously; reduce the cost of rejected products.
• Create a people plan that will improve the working conditions for all staff and create depth and caliber that are appropriate for future needs; implement a Safety Committee and lead with monthly/quarterly reporting metrics.
• Bring expertise and professionalism that will improve the effective functioning of the team
• Attend management and other meetings.
• Perform any other related duties for Caribbean Food Delights and other related companies as assigned and unilaterally determined by CFD.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelors degree in business administration, management or equivalent

Minimum 5-7 years related experience; experience in food manufacturing a plus

Proficient in Microsoft Office, Sage & PRIMS or equivalent

Knowledge of SQF, GMPs, HACCP, SOP, Pest Control Programs, USDA & FDA regulations, a plus

Strong leadership and managerial abilities

Strong math, analytical and data entry skills

Strong communication (verbal, writing, listening) skills

Critical thinker, results-oriented

Strong ability to manage the production planning function

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR POSITION WITH OR WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Frequent walking, bending, reaching, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds; prolonged standing; frequent verbal communication; frequent and repetitive keyboarding motion. Ability to operate standard office equipment computer, facsimile machine, photocopier, calculator, multi-line telephone system, etc.
