Within the Medical and Fluid Solutions segment, our Nordson MEDICAL businesses create life-saving medical solutions, manufacture critical healthcare components and create precision dispensing technology systems for medical device assembly and animal health markets.

The Position
General Manager, Nordson MEDICAL Surgical Solutions (Quest Medical)
Location
The position is based in Allen, TX (Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex)
The Business
Quest Medical (Nordson MEDICAL Surgical Solutions) was acquired by Nordson in August, 2024. The business employs approximately 150 people, has revenues exceeding $60M annually, and is one of Nordson MEDICAL’s four primary divisions.
Quest Medical was founded on the premise of developing medical devices that would have a positive impact on patient care. Since 1979, Quest has been dedicated to providing the highest quality products to three target markets: Cardiac Surgery, Infusion Therapy, and Ophthalmology. Quest Medical’s highly differentiated microplegia myocardial protection devices and single-use consumables deliver real-time precise blood and cardioplegia solutions during open heart surgery. Quest’s microplegia system improves patient outcomes, including faster recovery times and reduced medication costs, while also mitigating the risk of bacteria infection.
Reporting Relationships
The position reports to the Executive Vice President of Medical and Fluid Solutions (MFS).
Direct reports include sales and marketing, product development, engineering, quality & regulatory, and operations. Human resources and finance partners are co-located and report to their functional leaders with a strong dotted line with the GM.
Position Charter
This position is a new position and is open due to the recent acquisition of Quest Medical by Nordson.
Nordson MEDICAL seeks an experienced, growth-oriented business leader with demonstrated ability to simultaneously drive top line growth while expanding margins through operational continuous improvement within the medical industry.
The successful candidate will have a high level of business intelligence, an orientation on both strategy and execution, the ability to interface professionally and collegially, a high level of integrity and a passion for success.
The candidate must have experience leading in the medical technology space with a company that has well-grounded business operating systems based planning and execution. Strong preference for experience with regulated devices.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Full ownership of the P&L; accountable for delivering on revenue, profit and working capital goals
- Develop and execute a profitable growth strategy using Nordson’s NBS Next growth framework; Ensure the organization has a strong understanding of the global market and is continually focused on preserving its differentiated position
- Complete the implementation and sustained use of NBS Next with purity of practice to deliver leadership level performance in financial and non-financial KPI’s
- Drive growth via maximizing top customer spend share by promoting and leveraging the company’s core technologies, systems, products, and services. Identity new therapy / application / geography expansion opportunities. Develop and maintain relationships with key customers in support of the commercial team and the company’s growth goals
- Drive innovation and differentiation to increase market share through the development of new products and systems, built on market / data driven voice of customer
- Establish and maintain premier customer service and operational excellence to deliver leadership level performance in Quality and OTD
- Create strong, diverse agile teams; Unleash an owner mindset by leading leaders and encouraging decisions making as close to the action as practical
- Develop and execute an M&A plan. Work with corporate development on the acquisition process, including target identification, due diligence, and integrating activities
- Other responsibilities, as necessary.
Compensation
The position offers a competitive compensation package including base salary, incentive bonus, stock program, and comprehensive employee benefits plan. Relocation assistance will be provided.
Education and Experience Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical or business discipline is required; technical/engineering undergraduate degree and an advance degree is preferred.
Professional Qualifications
- 15+ years’ experience of increasing responsibility in a med tech or life sciences company
- 5+ years’ full P&L leadership preferred ($40M-$75M+ revenue business)
- Experience working in companies with process excellence and structured business systems
- MedTech industry experience required, registered products preferred, cardiovascular/structural heart preferred
- Global experience a plus

- Proven ability to manage the P&L, taking full ownership and accountability for making the numbers; meeting or exceeding revenue, profitability, and return-on-asset targets. Strong financial acumen and understanding of the levers of a P&L
- Knowledge of business & operational processes; commercial development, contract negotiations, program management
- Prior involvement in mergers and acquisitions, specifically with strategy, identification, and integration of acquisitions, including leadership of integration efforts is a plus
