One of our best clients is hiring a General Manager for their industrial sales and distribution center.
The General Manager for the distribution and sales team will oversee all aspects of the distribution business, including sales, operations, inventory management, customer service, and strategic planning. This role requires a strong leader with experience in the B2B sales environment and a proven track record of driving growth and profitability in a distribution business. Critical to the role is the strategic assessment, development, and execution of various business initiatives, growth strategies, and operational enhancement programs focused on growth and delivering value within the business. The General Manager will lead the organization in instilling and upholding safety, core values, and high-quality standards.
Required Skills / Abilities:
• A qualified candidate will have five years of full-time, relevant, professional experience, as well as management and decision-making capacity.
• Proven track of successfully operating and growing a distribution business.
• Ability to balance long-term thinking with short-term results - able to think strategically, but also, when necessary, to go down in detail to understand the business up close.
• Proactive and possess a high energy to lead change.
• A practical change manager who can provide examples of executing substantial change in a previous position.
• Straight-forward with strong integrity.
• Entrepreneurial drive – “doer” mentality.
• Commercially oriented - able to establish good relations with key customers and balance customer value and company profit value.
• Must be an effective communicator, comfortable communicating at all levels within an organization and in the marketplace. Written and verbal communication skills, and presentation skills must be excellent.
• Experience working in an industrial equipment and services environment.
Education and Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
• Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in a similar leadership role within a distribution or B2B sales environment, ideally focused on replacement parts or industrial equipment.
• Strong understanding of supply chain and logistics processes, with a proven ability to optimize operations.
• Demonstrated success in driving revenue growth, expanding market share, and improving profitability.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
• Experience in building and maintaining customer relationships, with a customer-centric approach to business.
