They are currently seeking a highly qualified GeneralManager to join their team and take on a significant leadership role in overseeing their Michigan construction operations. Job Description: As the General Manager for Michigan Construction Operations at this company, you will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing a variety of construction projects throughout the state. You will report directly to the company owners. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction management or civil engineering, coupled with extensive experience in estimating and project management for civil contractor projects. Alternatively, candidates with unrelated college degrees must have at least 20 years' experience in senior management roles within the civil construction industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Bid and Change Order Review: Review and evaluate bids and change orders for construction projects, ensuring they meet the company's standards and objectives.
- Contract and Subcontract Approval: Examine and approve contracts and subcontracts, verifying their terms and conditions align with company policies and legal requirements.
- Invoice and Pay Application Review: Review and authorize invoices and pay applications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project budgets.
- Receivables Tracking: Monitor receivables to ensure timely payment from clients and address any outstanding issues or concerns.
- Coordination and Supervision: Collaborate with estimating and project management teams, as well as field supervision staff, to ensure efficient and effective coordination of Michigan construction projects.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams to streamline operations, resolve issues, and maintain consistent communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Any other duties that may be asked of you.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management or civil engineering (preferred) OR unrelated college degree with a minimum of 20 years' experience in senior management within the civil construction industry.
- A minimum of 10 years of direct experience working for a civil contractor, including hands-on experience in estimating and project management.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
