Job Details:

This position is responsible for managing and directing all aspects of the FSQA Department at a Portioned Protein Innovations facility. This includes managing, directing, and continuing development of a two-shift FSQA department regarding regulatory requirements, food safety, and product quality. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Developing and maintaining HACCP, SSOP, SPS, SOP, and other food safety and quality programs.
2. Facilitating both the Food Safety and foreign material teams at the plant.
3. Completing required internal, regulatory, and customer audits.
4. Providing traceability support as required for the Plant, Sales, and Corporate FSQA.
5. Supporting and advising on Hold Release inventories at plant level.
6. Managing product quality systems at the facility in a variety of finished packages and atmospheres to meet customer requirements.
7. Participating in annual internal FSQA and Cross Functional Audits.
8. Assisting Sales with customer product quality, distribution, and finished product questions.
9. Interacting with regulatory officials, customers, and team members regarding regulatory issues and product quality.
10. Performing research and development activities, conducting and promoting food safety, food defense, and sanitation training and education to Team Members.
11. Performing other responsibilities as the need arises.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Knowledge associated with food safety, animal science, natural science, or technical field normally acquired through a bachelor’s degree or higher in academic study, or related job experience essential to the job.

Experience: 5 years of prior industry experience to fully grasp regulatory, production, and manufacturing concepts preferred.

Computer Skills: Standard computer skills required; generating spreadsheets and developing templates for use by plant management and corporate FSQA sales and operations.

Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills required, both written and verbal, demonstrating the proven ability to correspond with all levels - line team members to corporate management.

Supervisory: Manage crewing labor and attendance of the FSQA department.

Travel: 3-5 plus trips per year.
