Job Summary
The General Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations of the dispensary and building a team that is
passionate about medical cannabis and providing outstanding customer service. This person will be a strong leader,
responsible for maximizing sales and profitability by focusing on key business initiatives, while minimizing exposure to the
company. The General Manager drives expectations for compliance with all state and local regulations, implements
processes to achieve company goals, and ensures a positive experience for patients.
Duties and responsibilities or (Essential Functions)
● Manages all aspects of the dispensary's daily operations, including sales, inventory management, staffing
customer service and facility
● Ensures compliance with all local, state and federal laws, regulations and company policies
● Implements operational processes to achieve dispensary goals
● Manages a positive and inclusive work environment with a culture of excellence to hire, develop and retain a
strong team
● Provides excellent customer service, ensuring patients receive a positive experience. Manages customer inquiries
and complaints in a professional and timely manner
● Develops and implements effective sales strategies to drive revenue and profitability. Analyzes sales data and
implements initiatives to optimize performance.
● Oversees inventory management, cost control measures and pricing strategies to maximize profitability
● Maintains accurate records and documentation as required by regulatory agencies. Ensures strict compliance
with all applicable laws, regulations and company policies related to sales, safety and security, and implements
effective measures to protect dispensary assets. Manages inspections and audits for the dispensary.
● Provides comprehensive training and development opportunities to the team, ensuring they have the foundational
training and necessary skills to perform their roles effectively and compliantly. Develops and implements
continuing education training requirements, and ensures dispensary complies with all foundational and CE
requirements.
● Ensures proper staffing levels, schedules and training for the dispensary team. Provides coaching and feedback
to support employee development
● Complies with all inventory control measures set forth by state regulations and by Company SOPs. Conducts
inventory audits and reports discrepancies
● Develops and updates SOPs and operations protocols. Audits and ensures team adherence to Company SOPs
● Protects patient rights by adhering to HIPPA guidelines and maintains confidentiality of medical information
● Prepares and presents regular reports to senior management on dispensary performance, sales trends, inventory,
and other key metrics. Analyzes data to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement in dispensary
operations
● Maintains positive relationships with the Board of Pharmacy, through timely, professional and effective
interactions; Ensures submissions for material (marketing, training, etc) approval is consistently followed and
timely
● Develops relationships with vendors, suppliers and ensures timely and accurate delivery of products
● Operates POS and corresponding systems; reconciles and records cash receipts
● Maintains a safe, clean environment for patients and employees
● Responsible for supervising all activity within the dispensing; Hires, trains, schedules, supervises and directs
activities of dispensary staff; Ensures staff is fully trained before patient interaction
● Manages timekeeping and payroll for the facility
Qualifications
● Bachelor of Science Degree in Business, or equivalent experience
● Previous experience as a dispensary GM required; A minimum of five years' retail management experience
strongly preferred
● Strong leadership skills with a minimum of 5 years' leading teams
● Experience with inventory management systems or ERP required
● Must have a highly professional demeanor and strong work ethic with excellent verbal and written communication
skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
● Ability to work independently and carry out dispensary functions to completion within SOP instructions and
standards
● Proficient in using point-of-sale (POS) systems, inventory management software, and other dispensary-related
tools and technologies
● Able to work a variety of shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays
● Must be over age 21, able to obtain State required credentials, and pass a criminal background check
