General Maintenance Technician

pleasing campus environment. We are seeking a skilled and reliable General Maintenance Technician to join our team and contribute to the upkeep of our facilities. As a General Maintenance Technician at St. Ambrose you will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks across campus. You will work collaboratively with other team members to ensure the efficient operation of university buildings and grounds, contributing to the overall success of our institution.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Conduct routine inspections of campus facilities to identify maintenance needs
- Perform repairs and maintenance tasks on electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems
- Assist with the installation and repair of fixtures, equipment, and furnishings
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from faculty, staff, and students
- Assist with minor carpentry maintenance and repair on building systems (roof, doors, locks, etc.)
- Maintain accurate records of work orders, inspections, and maintenance activities
- Assist in snow removal and other seasonal maintenance tasks as needed
- Follow established safety procedures and guidelines at all times
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training preferred
- Proven experience in general maintenance, preferably in a university or institutional setting
- Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems
- Ability to use hand and power tools effectively and safely
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate university vehicles as needed
