Job Description:
As a Senior General Liability Attorney, you will be responsible for managing and litigating complex general liability cases across various industries. You will be our lead PL/GL attorney as our small firm grows.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage general liability cases from inception through resolution.
- Develop and execute litigation strategies, oversee case preparation, and ensure timely filings.
- Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery requests/responses, and settlement agreements.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing regular updates and strategic advice.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships and contribute to business development efforts.
- Conduct client consultations and provide expert legal counsel tailored to each client’s needs.
- Represent clients in all phases of litigation, including pretrial hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
- Collaborate with opposing counsel, expert witnesses, and industry professionals to gather necessary evidence and build robust cases.
- Prepare witnesses for testimony and effectively present complex liability issues in court.
- Mentor and supervise junior attorneys and support staff, fostering professional growth and high-quality legal work.
- Collaborate with firm partners to develop case strategies and share best practices.
- Contribute to firm-wide initiatives aimed at enhancing legal procedures and client service.
- Stay abreast of the latest legal developments, regulatory changes, and precedents in general liability law.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable rules and ethical standards, particularly within the jurisdiction of California.
- Maintain thorough and up-to-date case files and documentation.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Must be admitted to the California Bar and in good standing.
- A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in civil litigation with a focus on general liability claims.
- Proven track record of successful litigation in cases involving complex liability issues.
- Exceptional legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Strong courtroom presence with excellent oral advocacy and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple cases effectively while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to troubleshoot and solve complex legal challenges.
