Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced General Ledger Accountant to join our client’s team. The General Ledger Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, and supporting month-end close activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of GAAP principles, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- General Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile the general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Month-end Close: Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, and financial statement analysis.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and distribute monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Variance Analysis: Analyze financial data and investigate variances to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Fixed Assets Management: Record and maintain fixed asset transactions, including acquisitions, disposals, depreciation, and impairment testing.
- Intercompany Transactions: Reconcile intercompany accounts and coordinate with other departments/entities to ensure accurate elimination of intercompany balances.
- Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audit requests, providing documentation, explanations, and support as needed.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with GAAP principles, company policies, and regulatory requirements, making recommendations for process improvements as necessary.
- Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies in accounting processes and procedures, proposing and implementing solutions to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and controls.
- Ad Hoc Projects: Support special projects and initiatives as assigned by management, providing financial analysis and insight to support decision-making.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, with a focus on general ledger accounting.
- Strong understanding of GAAP principles and financial reporting requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle).
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and trends.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and precision.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
