SUMMARY: The General Ledger Accountant I, under the direction of the General Ledger Accounting Lead, will perform a variety of routine and non-routine accounting functions with significant focus on Balance Sheet Reconciliations, month end close and audit support. This role requires general supervision and will serve as the backup for the General Ledger Accountant II.
Annual salary $55,000- $60,000 based on experience and interview.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Balance Sheet Reconciliations.
• Assigned month end close tasks under the supervision of the GL Lead.
• Assist with assigned Balance Sheets by Entity.
• Monthly bank account reconciliations, AP/AR to Trial Balance Reconciliations and Payroll account to ADP Register Reconciliations.
• Intercompany AJE preparation and reconciliation.
• Balance sheet accounts variance analysis.
• Research and reconciliation of discrepancies.
• Prepare journal entries, analysis, and trial balance account reconciliations with supporting documentation.
• Support of external Audits by providing timely, accurate documentation.
• Meet processing and reporting deadlines.
• Research monthly financial variance analysis.
• Ensure Dawson is in compliance with GAAP.
• Other Duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
• A minimum of 2+ years general ledger experience in accounting preferred.
• Public accounting experience a plus.
• Ability to meet communicated schedules and deadlines.
• Adherence to policies, procedures, and instructions of GL Lead.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports and legal documents.
• Proficient in MS Excel, Word, Access, Outlook
• Experience in Costpoint a plus.
• Experience in multi-site/state operations is strongly desired.
• Knowledge of federal contracting preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
• Ability to function as a team player.
EDUCATION:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred.
• CPA or other accounting designation a plus.
