About the Position:
GPTech is seeking an experienced General Ledger Accountant to assist in managing our day-to-day accounting and finance requirements, primarily accounts receivable (AR). Confidentiality, excellent organizational skills, and accuracy are important qualifications for this position, as well as the ability to communicate clearly. The ideal candidate for this position is a skilled multi-tasker, reliable, and committed to consistently meeting deadlines. The General Ledger Accountant will work closely with the Director of Finance, Accounting Manager, and other staff to maintain the financial records of the company.
This position is based in GPTech’s Arlington, Virginia, headquarters office. We work under a hybrid model and require this position to be in the office a minimum two days per week.

The General Ledger Accountant will work closely with the Director of Finance, Accounting Manager, and other staff to maintain the financial records of the company.
This position is based in GPTech’s Arlington, Virginia, headquarters office. We work under a hybrid model and require this position to be in the office a minimum two days per week.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of invoice entry and processing.
- Assist in streamlining and improving the AR process.
- Reconcile the AR ledger to ensure that all bills and receipts are accounted for and properly posted.
- Work closely with field office accountants to ensure that all financial data have been properly entered into local QuickBooks®.
- Generate reports detailing AR status.
- Manage and process AR transactions including monitoring, journalizing, and tracking bank account activity.
- Coordinate the processing, follow-up, and collection of AR transactions.
- Participate in the monthly closing of accounting records.
- Prepare and maintain monthly general ledger reconciliations.
- Complete monthly field office bank reconciliations.
- Assist with the annual audit process. Provide supporting documents as requested by auditors.
- Participate in special projects and prepare various financial reports as needed.
- Adhere to accounting policies, procedures, and associated regulations. Monitor policies, procedures, and controls relating to AR and accounts payable functions; identify and suggest improvements and efficiencies.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in accounting or business
- 5–8 years of professional experience as a bookkeeper or accountant
- Experience with cost plus invoicing
- Excellent computer skills and high proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Good written communication, organizational, and analytical skills
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy while processing large volumes of data
- Experience working with QuickBooks®
- Fluent in English
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working for a U.S. government contractor
- Experience with Unanet Financials
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or related field
