Description: The General Laborer / Utility position performs several jobs within the Gateway operations. These functions include but not limited to collecting coins from City Parking meters, meter maintenance, and Heavy Truck.
Job Purpose: We are looking for a dedicated skilled laborer to assist with the maintenance and operations of parking meters. The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspections, installation, repairs, maintenance, and testing of all parking meters. Our General Laborer/ Utility staff are expected to be skillful in the areas of technology and construction. They should always know the appropriate responses, no matter the situation in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Job Responsibilities:
- Complete reports on meter repairs, installation, or maintenance
- Report existing or potential work hazards
- Responsible for proper check in/out of property, including tools, uniforms and vehicles
- Collect coins from parking meters on an assigned route
- Report existing or potential work hazards to Collection Driver
- Document ALL field activities
- Report meter theft or vandalism
- Respond professionally to questions and complaints from the general public
- Complete all required paperwork and reports in a timely and accurately manner
- Present daily reports as assigned, detailing service performance
- Reports and records the condition of parking meters
- Remove parking meters when instructed
- Maintain clean and tidy work area
- Perform other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIRMENTS
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or its equivalency
- Valid Driver's Class E License and clean driving history
Technical Skills:
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Basic PC knowledge and familiarity with electronic equipment
- Great communication skills (verbal and written)
- High level of accuracy, speed, and data entry skills
- Attention to details
- Ability to relate well with others and work in a team environment
- Ability to work under pressure
- Self-motivated with the ability to work unsupervised
Physical Requirements: Physical requirements include frequently lifting/carrying 15+ pounds; visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate two-way radio and a motor vehicle. Subject to walking, standing, sitting, and kneeling to perform essential functions. Working conditions are primarily outside with frequent exposure to temperature extremes, dust, damp/wet surfaces, and high noise levels
