Stampede Ventures, Inc., a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation, is currently seeking a local and qualified federal project General Construction Superintendent with Safety Certifications. The Superintendent is directly responsible for the safe and efficient execution of the project and will be onsite for the duration of the projects.  This includes implementation of the project plans as well as project oversight and coordination with the project team.  This position requires a close working relationship with the Project Manager, Subcontractor Teams, Foreman, and Quality Control/Quality Assurance Manager (QM), as well as other project team members.  The Site Superintendent must have at least 3 years of applicable experience on projects involving civil construction, base building, utilities, infrastructure, etc.  The Site Superintendent is required to possess the ability to prepare written technical reports, covering all aspects of construction activities; ability to track site costs on a daily basis; ability to manage and ensure proper execution of multiple simultaneous subcontracts and/or vendors of varying types and complexity; ability to track site costs routinely; demonstrated ability to mediate with tact when dealing with customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• On-site implementation and coordination of the project plans per the plans and specifications.
• Schedule and execute all phases of construction.
• Ability to lead regular internal and external tailgate meetings including daily discussions on project health and safety.
• Preparation of daily reports with Project Manager and Quality Control Manager
• Review of project submittals as required.
• Active role in daily, weekly, and monthly meetings with all on site staff
• Coordination with on-site subs
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications (applies to both this section and KSAO’s)

• High School Degree or equivalent
• A minimum of 7 years in Construction with a preference for Federal/DOD work
• OSHA 30 Certificate

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

• Excellent communication skills with internal and external customers
• Experience with Microsoft® Office & other computer programs
• Construction management experience

Preferred

• Federal government or DOD experience in construction
• First Aid/CPR certified
• Current security clearance
• Estimating experience including RS Means

• This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation “safety-sensitive” functions.  

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

• Job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system. The work described herein is primarily in a modern office setting. Occasional travel may be required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Hires and supervises direct reports.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
