General Accounting Manager
What you will do:
Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the General Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of the accounting department, compliance with US GAAP accounting requirements, and ensuring accurate and timely accounting close. This role involves supervising accounting staff, overseeing general ledger activities, managing month-end and year-end closes, establishing best practice processes and procedures, and supporting the broader finance team with financial analysis and decision-making. This position will have a critical impact on the success of Divert’s future accounting and finance infrastructure and play an integral part on a team of highly dedicated accounting and finance professionals.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the accurate maintenance of the general ledger and ensure proper recording and classification of financial transactions, ensuring compliance with accounting principles.
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all entries are posted and reconciled and accounting close is accurate and timely.
- Oversee accrual accounting process. Work with accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring accrual entries are posted correctly and properly reconciled.
- Oversee compensation accounting process. Work with HR and payroll, ensuring all compensation entries are posted accurately and properly reconciled.
- Oversee the reconciliation of bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and other financial records. Investigate discrepancies and ensure they are resolved in a timely manner.
- Assist with the preparation of ad hoc financial reports and analyses as needed.
- Assist in internal and external audits, implementing any required corrective actions.
- Identify opportunities for streamlining accounting processes and enhancing operational efficiency.
- Implement best practices and automation tools to improve the accuracy and efficiency of accounting operations.
- Support system and application implementation.
- Assist in defining and maintaining relevant accounting policies.
- Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of accountant(s), ensuring their professional growth and productivity.
- Assign and review work, provide training, and support in technical accounting issues.
- Conduct performance reviews, set objectives, and ensure team alignment with departmental goals.
- Assist the Controller to implement controls to support the integrity of Divert’s financial records.
- Manage ad-hoc accounting/finance projects and support other accounting areas as needed.

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- CPA or master’s degree in accounting preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of general accounting principles (US GAAP).
- Strong understanding of accounting for relevant industries, such as construction, manufacturing, or renewable energy preferred.
- A minimum of 8+ years of related accounting experience.
- The Big Four accounting firms’ experience is a plus.
- Direct experience with ASC 710 and ASC 712.
- Proficient in Microsoft office products, e.g., Excel, Teams.
- Experience with major ERP system is required. Microsoft Dynamics ERP system is preferred.
- Experience with ERP implementation is a plus.
- Ability to execute and follow through to completion including documentation.
