Position Summary:
Midnight Sun Technologies is looking to hire a Gene Therapy Vector Researcher to support a Federal contract with the FDA. This position will support the research program of the FDA's Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER), Office of Tissue and Advanced Therapies, Division of Cellular and Gene Therapies.
Background:
The Food and Drug Administration, Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research mission is to protect and advance public health be ensuring the safety and efficacy of gene therapy products. To support this mission, Office of Tissue and Advanced Therapies, Division of Cellular and Gene Therapies will conduct studies to evaluate gene therapy vectors. This work will facilitate the development of animal models to predict the safety, efficacy and biodistribution of gene therapy vectors. In particular, this work will analyze mouse and human proteins that interact with gene therapy vectors, with the goal of understanding how differences between mice and human models. This work will require laboratory and investigative procedures, data analysis, and implementation of processes and protocols.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Implement, plan, initiate and complete all experiments and protocols in the lab; perform research independently
- Analyze data and prepare graphs and reports using SigmaPlot, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Collect, record, organize, and analyze experimental data. Maintain data thoroughly and complete to be housed in government owned records of experiments, following established standard operating procedures (SOPs). Additionally, all data in hard copy laboratory notebooks, as well as in electronic versions are to be made available and accessible to the Principal Investigator and other individuals in the laboratory.
- Summarize achieved progress to be presented at Lab and Branch meetings as well as at research conferences. This information may need to be utilized as contribution to writing scientific publications for peer-reviewed journals.
- Aid in general maintenance of laboratory space and equipment to ensure it is a safe and clean working environment.
Minimum Requirements:
- Master of Science in biology, chemistry, microbiology, or a related field. PhD preferred.
- Experience with tissue and cell culture.
- Experience in immunological assays.
- Lab animal experience preferred.
- Experience analyzing data with Excel, GraphPad, and/or SigmaPlot.
Work Environment:
- On-site Laboratory environment, some remote or office based work
Physical Demands:
- Lift up to 15 lbs.
