The sale is expected to close in approximately the third quarter of 2025.
Entergy has no planned reduction in workforce as a result of this sale, and intends to operate the business as usual prior to the sale.
***This position can be filled as a Construction Worker or Mechanic, Construction & Maintenance Helper, I, II, or Sr depending upon candidate's experiience**
Job Summary/Purpose:
A construction worker/maintenance mechanic serves as a member of a crew engaged in installing and repairing gas main and service lines.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Provide assistance with all gas distribution activities involved with the installation, repair and maintenance of the gas distribution system. This duty requires performance of physical labor tasks such as hand digging, pushing a probe rod, operating pneumatic drills, and handling heavy material and equipment.
Completes jobs by digging, shoring, repairing leaks, testing, and wrapping pipe.
Performs work with hand tools, air tools, shovels, etc. during distribution activities while adhering to all safety and work rules. Required to work safely and follow all Entergy safety policies and procedures.
Identify hand tools and equipment needed to perform specific tasks.
Take instruction from lead mechanic and assists other crew members in all activities as required
Ensures that truck is stocked with equipment and supplies and maintains, vehicles, tools and other equipment in neat and orderly condition.
Perform Stand By duty and emergency call out after normal working hours with a report time within 60 minutes.
Able to work extended hours and in adverse weather conditions to complete gas work.
Minimum Experience required of the position:
Mechanic Hlpr - Minimum 0-2 year Gas Service to 0-2 years of Gas Distribution Mechanic/Meter Service experience.
Mechanic I - Minimum 1 year Gas Service to 2 years of Gas Distribution Mechanic/Meter Service experience.
Mechanic II - 2 to 4 year Gas Mechanic and 5 years Meter Service experience.
Mechanic Sr - 5+ years Gas Mechanic
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position:
Consistently be dependable and reliable.
Self-motivated and a dependable team player.
Good mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools and small power tools.
Ability to operate a 90 pound jack hammer.
Good interpersonal skills along with good written and oral communication skills.
Ability to communicate and work with the public in a pleasant and tactful manner and understand the importance of delivering a high level of customer service.
Must have a demonstrated acceptance to take instruction from lead mechanics.
Ability to maintain and care for Company equipment properly and safeguard assets.
Ability to interpret construction drawings to locate underground facilities.
Ability to gain the required knowledge to use CGI and leak detection equipment.
Utilize GIS technology and basic PC applications.
Ability to create and maintain accurate as- built drawings, records, timesheets and all other administrative work.
Ability to safely manage gas emergencies and other hazardous situations.
Ability to recognize hazards in the workplace and have the ability to mitigate hazards using company procedures.
Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities and be able to work well under pressure.
Desired:
Knowledgeable of gas distribution piping systems
Working knowledge of AM/FM/GIS graphical program applications
Knowledgeable in MS Office software (Word, Excel, & Outlook)
Familiar with gas service territory area
Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position:
Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a company vehicle per highway DOT regulations.
Ability to obtain and maintain D.O.T. Office of Pipeline Safety operator qualifications as it pertains to gas construction and maintenance work.
Desired:
Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred, if not must have the ability to obtain a CDL within the first 6 months of employment at employee’s expense.
